Congrats to Maine West! I'm not sure any ESCC predictors saw this one in the weekly thread

I have nothing against Benet Academy but man you sure have to be happy for Maine West!!!

Thanks to all for the nice wishes and the "congrats"... big team win last night... Defense shut down the Benet running game completely in the first half and then we held on for a nice win...
Can't say enough about the job the Kradman has done as the head coach at Maine West... completely changed the culture and got a diverse group of kids to completely buy in.... I've been lucky to have my son play for him on varsity for 3 years and was blessed to watch him catch 2 TD's against Benet last night.
We were out-sized by Benet, but our skill players were the best people on the field... fun to watch and hope we can give Willowbrook all they can handle next week!
What a great story. Such an amazing job by the Maine West staff to turn this around. Keep it up. Hard not to root for these guys.

I’m a MW grad from the 70s and as I like to say, back when we used to beat Maine South. It’s great to see the Warriors back on the map. Beat Willowbrook!

I didn't say for sure. But rumors have been swirling for several months.
Only thing that is changing might be playoff appearances - lower classes at Benet are not very good. Lot of talent graduates this year.
Combined conferences is not great for Red Wings. The four team grouping was a decent draw for Benet but if they have cross over games against Rice, MC , etc they will have a tough time competing week to week and getting five wins.
Benet is more of a hoops and girls sports school any success in football is just a bonus. No pressure on New to go deep into playoffs every year .

Better not be anything changing. New is a godsend for Benet. They’ve drastically overachieved during his tenure.

I admit I don’t keep close tabs on Benet football, except when they play Nazareth, but I’ve always thought New was a really good coach. If rumors are true, Benet better be careful of what it wishes for.
One of Benet's crossover games is against the Mustangs from Rita. I know you said lower levels are not that good, but how about next year's seniors?
Most of the
talent on defense graduates - including the defensive line which is team strength. Three of five o-line, top running back, and top WR graduate. Juniors had mediocre records as underclassmen - QB is a junior which is a big plus.
Fixed it for ya, the school in LaGrange isn’t interested in playing anyone.

Your right Irish LB, my mistake, I always get LaGrange and LaGrange park messed up. One has grey poupon on the table and the other regular mustard!
