Yeast his replacement?

That name popped up, although I'm not particularly sure if the poster was serious. Yeast would make some sense though. One of the best wide receivers to play in the SEC, he's been coaching for a bit now at a couple of different levels. Would be a neat hire.
Another name that popped up earlier is Gerad Parker of Purdue. He's the WR coach, and recruiting coordinator there.

I didn't see someone mention Yeast, just figured he would want to come here and be closer to his son.

Stupid decision imo.

Gotta figure if Eddie Gran is the next OC that maybe they are clearing the way for Darrin Hinshaw to follow Gran with him here.

Mainord was WR coach at TTU before UK. Which is basically the most prestigious job in the country for a WR coach. You don't get that job unless your a very good WR coach. He did well there and did well here.

No doubt the WR's are better now than they were when he got here. The same can't be said for Schlarman's O-Line.

If mainord is gone looks like they would need another coach with Fl connections. Yeast is an OH guy and we've pretty much got that covered already.

I hope the changes work out for Stoops but until it all works out call me "Thomas".

Of all the people guaranteed to stay, Schlarman's name wasn't mentioned. He may be the next to go

Yeast could cover OH. Gran is apparently a terrific recruiter in south Florida. Assuming we get both of them, of course.

I think the Yeast hire would be very good. One of the great wide receivers to play in the SEC, has coaching experience, and he apparently taught his son well. His son doesn't have the blistering speed that Craig had, but is a very fundamentally sound wide receiver. Very good route runner, catches the football, smart player. That's what we need.

I don't see how you can fire Mainord and retain Schlarman. Schlarman's O-Line has been consistently HORRIBLE since he has been here. Let the new OC have some say in who his position coaches are. Don't hamstring him by forcing him to work with people that are underperforming.

Because Mainord has very good talent to work with, and Schlarman didn't. This year will be his year to prove himself, but Mainord lost his chance when none of our wide receivers could catch a football.

I understand if maybe you let Mainord go if your new OC is bringing in a WR coach with him.

But if they have fired him because of his performance and NOT Schlarman, than Stoops is BEYOND stupid.

Very smart move. The WRs had lost all respect for Mainord. There were players going to transfer because of him. Stoops had to make this move.

Thee are 2 former UK WRs who are candidates.

Yea Mainord was Brown's guy and Gran (or whoever it turns out to be) will likely pick his own guy, assumedly Hinshaw if he doesn't get the OC job at Cincy as some have speculated.

So it isn't like Mainord is not a good coach, it's just that a new OC want's his own guy(s).

I think Gerad Parker is being considered..He would probably be pretty good..I refuse to get excited at all though after what happened this past season. Stoops should have hired Gran his first year instead of Neal Brown.

I hope it means Hinshaw is coming with Gran.

What's Craig Yeast's qualifications?
Do we know that the new oc is gran??
I see a lot of posts acting like he is coming. Is it gran or was that leaked to throw us off??? No doubt gran was looked at but has coley been hired? Just wondering!!
If it is I like the hire and think we would be playing a bowl game if he had been hired last year..

I'd prefer to have a WR coach who the new oc wants on his staff. Personally I'd like it to be a proven coach at the div 1 level who is very good and can recruit with the best. Is Yeast this man?

the Wide Receiver group was likely my largest disappointment. Both lines were hideous, but also understaffed, injured, and had been under recruited.
The receiver group was the best 'star' wise and hype wise we've had in my fan time since 74.
I would have traded five of these guys the way they played for two Craig Yeasts and two Derrick Abneys.
If a coach's players regress, there's a problem. If they all do, there's a real problem.

Doesn't he coach high school now? Maybe wanting to get into the college ranks? But would being an ex-UK player have any sway with Stoops?

Appreciate your inputs.

Could be a very talented record setter or a not so talented WR that everyone thought would be a great coach some day in Parker from his hard work and attitude here. It would be nice for either of them to get a chance at their alma mater.

Why? Our wide receivers underachieved more than any group this year. He has done nothing of note as a recruiter. Our receivers are more talented, but their success did not match their talent level. Schlarman's OL has struggled, but it isn't littered with high 3* and 4* guys.
