I can only imagine the excess fat from that company, not gonna be surprised to see them downsize its been hemerogin money for years but rich people don't notice til years like this one were they sit down with the peoples and hear bout the yearly money cannons that have been going off and they look at a way to move things back in the right direction. This year is all bout changing fundamental ways of life to appease those who think the times need better rules and regulations.

Is this a UCL mock post? Not sure.

The sports business model used to be valid. Sell tickets to fans, sell fans to advertisers... Now no tickets to sell, which hurts the tv product, which means less viewers to sell. Add in people getting out of the rhythm, the political situation, unbundling, and less overall ad spend and you have a bag of assets that ESPN paid a lot of money to broadcast that have absolutely cratered in value.

Is it possible that maybe it's a combination of politics and cord cutting? Like maybe 85% cord cutting and 15% politics. Is it possible?

#1 factor is sports rhythm disruption and no live fans IMO. It's Seinfeld without the laugh track, we're watching dudes workout. Without the fans its not an escape, its a reminder of the dystopian hellscape that's outside your house.

Okay, that's certainly fair enough. You add in whatever categories and assign whatever percentages you want. The point is that it's not just one thing unless you just have an agenda.

Disney is hurting big time, just announced 28k layoffs. These extended shutdowns will cascade through our economy for 2-3 years. It seems like a lot of people are put off by the SJW onslaught, the % of programming discussion and commercials, is staggering, but we won't know now much until next year.

The Sports bubble is bursting. It was already straining before the effects of the Pandemic. I’m extremely interested in seeing how much the SEC is going to get for its expiring deal with CBS.

In fairness, a lot of this is a sign of the times. Is Sportscenter even a thing anymore? This isn't the 90's and the 2000's. With the internet and social media, there's just too many ways to get your sports news, opinions, highlights, etc.. and in some instances, BETTER ways to get those things than what a static news network can offer.

I can honestly say that half of my sports media intake comes from small moderated social media pages like "Black Adam Schefter", "Bleacher Report" etc.. I don't need to come home in time to catch 2-3 hours of ESPN highlights..

when I was a kid I'd always wake up and watch sportscenter in the morning before school. Now I can just check the app

Cord cutting is costing more than wokeness.
Wrong. Nielsen tracks streaming now including mobile devices. https://www.nielsen.com/us/en/insig...ring-opportunity-for-brands-and-media-owners/
The ratings are down because no gives a **** about watching spoiled racist millionaires attempt to lecture people.
The silent minority, actually.

That unmitigated hubris worked out so well last time. 🤣 By all means, double down. We thank you. I look forward to your melt in a few weeks, Im certain it will be one of the better ones on here since youre one the boards biggest overall whiners.

The last clip I watched from ESPN had a panel of former jocks all trying to out-virtue signal each other about "systemic racism". One of the idiots even started crying. I guess he won that contest.

I hope ESPN goes under along with the entire corrupt Marxist MSM. They are all the biggest problem for America. Too many low info viewers gobble this **** up and become brainwashed Marxist useful idiots.

You can’t be a majority if you received less votes than someone else, which is what happened in 2016. It’s just basic math.

I look forward to your meltdown when the bloodbath ensues at the ballot for the Republican Death Cult next month and the Democrats have seized control of the Senate, House, and Presidency. I will bathe in the tears of you snowflakes.

Its not rocket science. Its their liberal bs. Weve all known it for awhile, some just keep their head in the sand.

Sorry....the silent majority is just that. We speak with our wallets instead of rioting and looting like animals.
I wish I could like this post 1,000 times. Liberalism in it's extreme, "woke" form, is a disease.

Well they have a deal with ESPN that pays each SEC school roughly $40 million a year. Seems like that would be bad for Kentucky if ESPN went under (which it isn't - but still pointing out the fact).
The confecence would negotiate a deal with FOX or NBC in all likelihood. I dont think you understand how this works

We are on ESPN because they offered us the most, not because they were the only option. Zero ***** given about ESPN going under.
