The more I think of this the more I know this is the right move. He was a Hawkeye he was technical as it gets, he is very intelligent, he has the western PA roots, he is calm cool collected and fits right in with everything already in place to take over when TnT are done!

Im talking about a plan that is already partially in place. The combination of Spencer when he is done competing as an assistant AD, Bull,Sorenson,MKem and Cass as the coaches maybe the answer we are seeking to hand the keys to.
Bull has Ohio ties and loves to coach, Sorenson is doing great things at the HWC plus Iowa ties, Kemdawg for the reasons above, Cass evens things out and Illinois ties.
Tell me a combo that makes more sense then this for the future of the Hawkeyes.

Compared to two-three years ago, the Minnesota team is a much better wrestling team now - take Gable out as the exception - better technically and tactically, and it started when Kemerer was brought in as an assistant. they still don't have the top to bottom lineup to compete at the top of the standings but significantly better quality of wrestling, even in losses. I'm sure he's enjoying life in faux canadia, but I've heard recently he maintains a good relationship with the brands, and that he wouldn't be opposed to working with tom, but again wasn't like he was actively looking to move.

I like mark hall as an assistant. Lived the rigors of high profile recruiting and can relate to today’s super elite kids.

young and can scrap in the room in both folk and free.

Midwest roots with east coast ties

worth a consideration imo
Hall is doing good work and a good guy it seems but if we are getting a psu guy in the fold I have a few others I would pick before him. I do like the Minnesota Ties though

I am not sure there is enough accolades / star power / post graduate success to really appeal to the high-end recruits that Iowa needs. Good guys for sure, just don't think they move the needle enough.

KemDawg might be good IF we can also add someone with the STAR power. Currently SUPERMAN LEE, DeSanto, and BUCHANAN are doing GR8. If 1, 2, ALL can get World/ Olympic medals GOLDS!!!! All of a sudden GAME ON!!! A staff with a current WORLD CHAMP/ GOLD medal winner would/could/should be HUGE!

of course we are still ***-U-ME-ing that WHOMEVER is in charge will have 1) the $$$$$$ and 2) the POWER to use it!!!

We need fresh blood from outside the program, imo. Btw, Spencer doesn’t want to coach, apparently. Assistant AD?

I feel like Hall would be a solid addition. Did anyone get a chance to watch the UNI/Oklahoma meet? If I didn’t know better, I would have assumed that he was the head coach. He was the only one up coaching the guys. The rest of the coaching staff just sat back lol

I think Brando is more of a freestyle oriented coach. Tough as nails but was mostly hand fight in folk on feet but did almost always get a takedown in 3rd for the win.

Throwing out some names for consideration: What are J'den Cox or Jaydin Eierman up to these days? My kid was in a youth clinic with J'den and I was super impressed with his communication skills, his people skills, and his coaching style. They might be a controversial choice due to "defensive" style, but put one with a strong coach of offensive technique.

Assistant TO the AD

I agree we need outside influence. Think that’s a big part of the problem right now.

Big fan of J'den. He would thrive in a coaching role as he is a cool duck and would do well recruiting I would think.. He and Willie Miklus were and probably still are best buddies. Miklus is up at NDSU coaching and IIRC was at MSU. He is also a guy I wouldn't mind hearing out his ideas in an interview as an assistant. I can tell you from a personal conversation many years back. Wllie was going on and on about what he learned in the PSU room when he spent a little time there and thought Iowa was stale in its approach and coaching technique even back then

I know J’den is coaching cadets and juniors for USAW and Eierman I believe is a youth club coach.

Would rather have Spencer as HC and Kem as assistant. Need to have star power for recruiting purposes. Kem is good but never won a NCAA or international title.

Why does it have to be an Iowa guy. There are other places that have wrestling, good wrestling at that. What about a great D2 coach who has won at every level he’s coached at. D3 coach with success. Wrestling does exist outside IOWA.
I am not against it whatsoever but who is a really great D2 coach that would be a Cignatti wrestling type? Dalton Jenson from UNK? Or D3- I dont think Eric Keller or even a NAIA Nick Mitchell would be an answer. Who else is out there?
