Seems like you've dabbled in this before

Nah, I have a friend, that has a friend, that has a second cousin that grew it one time............about twenty years ago.....besides it is illegal to grow or posses it in KY.
I wouldn't want to break any laws........at 62 I don't want to be caged.

So when you start out with a seed and it's in a cup, when do you transfer the seedling to another pot? How big does that pot need to be? How many transfers do you go thru

Put seed in a pod after it sprouts and then put under light for 24/7. Then as roots start sticking out of the pod. Then move it to a small pot and add soil. Pod and all.

what does a pod look like? I would think to put the sprouted (little white thing) in a cup but then I struggle to transplant to a larger ( I would guess 5 gallon) Is that too big too fast though

Depending how big the small pot is you might have to move it again. Also if you get a good plant going I suggest cloning it. Gets you more plants for yourself and if you have a good enough friend give him one.

You can do it that way, but I'd recommend smaller size than that so you ensure your small plant can get all the water and nutrients you put into the soil. The beginning stage is the most delicate. After that it's all light nutrients and ph levels. You probably won't have to worry abt ph unless doing a big grow

last time I put it in a little cup and when it began sprouting and had the two beginner leaves (forgot what they are called) I moved it to 5 gallon. Is that too much of a move or does it need to be incremental in sizes?

Incremental. I also wouldn't transfer it when it's that small. Let it grow a nice little stalk and get its roots deep in the soil. 5gallon is to big for that small because you can't be sure it's getting all the nutrients because it's root system is immature

than that whole little bundle goes into the 5 gallon amirite

Get them half size of that. Don't move anything into 5 gallon bucket unless they are about 1.5 to 2 foot tall. Rupp may add info to that.

But once you get the seed to sprout. Put in that pod. over light 24 hours. Once the plant sprout out of the pod. Move pod into smaller pot and fill soil around the pod. and leave under light. Once it gets bigger you can move to a bigger pot.

You can always use a bubble bucket and grow it hydroponically

Nothing to add except I don't like the mesh on the outside of the pods and would recommend cutting it off. But if you're going to transfer it again be careful with the roots digging it out. The mesh part is really dealers choice

so rupp says no mesh. What is the downside of just putting it in a 5 gallon right from the start when it sprouts?

I don't use mesh around it either. I tear it off.

Because you'll prolly over water it. My best advice, let it get taller before you move it to a 5 gallon and make sure there is holes at the bottom for drainage.

I didn't say no mesh. If you want to leave it on that's perfectly fine, I just to prefer to cut it off or cut down a side or 2 so the roots have room to grow out. Again dealers choice. And the downside is the lack of nutrients your plant will get.

In the cup when you're "feeding" your plant all of the "food" stays in the small area of the cup so your plant gets the full amount of nutrients. Now putting that small seedling of a plant into a 5 gallon pot is almost ensuring that your plant will not receive all of the nutrients you are "feeding" your plant as the "food" will dispearse wider and deeper into the soil than your root system has grown. If that makes any sense.

Also go buy auto flower seeds from http://www.herbiesheadshop.com/mobile/

Cuts your time in half basically.

Don't you get a slightly inferior product with autoflower? A few ears ago I kept coming across all these itty bitty "seeds". Like size of a pin head. I couldn't find a lot of info, but all of it pointed towards the new autoflower craze. Better for big business, not better for consumer. Idk it that's true. This stuff was 17-20% from Cali. All tiny-seeded up. I also figured that **** gets sent to the black market bc it ain't medical, imo.

If by inferior you mean you will get less yield than a standard seed, then yes you're correct. Ive seen small seeds and big seeds with both types. That really depends on the strain and maturity of the plant it came from. Auto flower I would argue is worse for big business because they get a smaller yield of flower than non auto flowering. I wouldn't see why auto flower wouldn't be allowed to be called medical if the quality is there. Auto flower is essentially just a faster grow rate. Easier for new ppl to learn and get right, especially if grown outside.

Downsides of auto flower are 1) You can't control when your plant flowers (leading to less yield) 2) requires 18 hours of light a day, instead of a 12/12 then to an 18/6.

Thanks, I just couldn't find a lot of info. Found some forums blaming autoflower so I thought maybe that was it.

How does maturity play a role in the mini seed thing? And can stress play a role?

Auto flowers take less take to grow buds, the buds aren't as big as other plants that grow longer. So the seeds that develop in a smaller yielding auto flower have less time to develop hence they aren't as big as the others( usually). And stress as in outdoor growing stress?

Edit: An analogy of the seeds is Theres 2 kids a 17 year old and a 12 year old. The 12 year old is smarter than the 17 year old. That doesnt mean the 17 year old can't kick the crap out of the 12 year old.

On yield of Auto Flower(12yr) v Regular old seeds (17yr)

what do you guys use as reflective to put light back on the plant? I know paint doesn't work but wouldn't those auto dash reflectors work?

A good flat white paint will give you good reflection, somewhere ~ 90 - 95 % iirc. The dash reflectors will work OK too, iirc reflection is a little lower. Foil bubble wrap might work well too ;) No experience but Panda Film gets good reviews.

Gave in, hooked up / half of some good tonight. I am not driving for our business right now so I'm good and legal sort of. 15 year smoker had to quit a few years ago, so imagine my delight.

Colorado legalizing has really upped the quality here in Yennessee. My boy had 4 strains, scooped on the Moby.

Feels like F'n christmas and I just hit the power ball while gettin head at the same time. Incredible feeling when you have to go so long without it.

So, anyway, ya'll ever seen the back of a 20 dollar bill on weed man????:D

Is there a better feeling that smoking your own? I don't think so

I used to grow a lot when I was in my early 20's. Nope, nothing like it when it turns out just right. It's your baby. I'd spend 30 minutes a day talking to my plants. How was your day, you hungry? Cool enough for you? K nite nite, love y'all.

Although I must say, going two years without it and buying some good for the first time is almost like that first smoke in life. Especially when you've worked to stay clean to better yourself in certain professions and it worked.

Money
Kids good ( will not let them know)
Girl happy
Business moving on its own
First sack in a long time.

I wish I could pass this to all of you and be ridiculous, give y'all some good nicknames or something. I miss the days of sitting around with friends, rolling some rillos, and Just roasting each other.

I was Skuttless supreme or "4 door" (long story)
My best friend was Bradford pear head. (Hair looks identical to the tree).
My fat friend mikey would get so pissed off at the old Kix commercial (it's mikey he likes it, and he'll eat anything). Our skinny friend, himo, we nicked the "green onion". Crazy reasons.

Gonna roll # 2 on the day. Nice thread. Had been avoiding it because it made me depressed. Tough to only be able to drink alcohol when all you want to do is smoke.
