Thus far, Markett gets my vote for ESCC PoY.

From following Rice, Markett would be the best player in the CCL as well.

His running ability causes teams fits! Not very impressed with him tossing the rock.

(*As I've mentioned I think the CCL talent is way down this year. I have not yet seen montini or MC play though. 2 of the better teams.)

Definitely plus running ability and he’s a tough kid who appears to lead well. I would agree that his arm is average though.

The game at Montini will be a big test for Rice - they are very good. Would love to see a Marist-Rice rematch in the playoffs

I do think Batavia would be a big hurdle for Naz to beat.

There once was a team who's offensive and defensive lines were smaller than about 75% of the opponents they played.

This team went on to win 7 state championships in a row (Driscoll Catholic).

Point well taken. It was too strong of me to say I couldn't 'see them hanging' with those teams. I should have said something more along the lines of Naz won't just waltz their way to a 7A title. Edit: Or maybe better: I'd say that they would be underdogs against Batavia or East Side.

Yes, much needed road test against a quality opponent. Need it for playoffs.

I do like the angle of the Blue being on the line and first team ever to go 9-0.

As were all aware with high school athletes anything can happen. But I think this group will be up for the challenge.

Look forward to a rematch also. But long way to go before then.

I settled on standing on top of the baseball bleachers back of the end zone. Great little spot. Marist side along fence before that.
Hey dean, did you enjoy watching Marist change in the tent for a locker room. What a dump. Lmao. Some Naz fan said visiting teams have a choice to go in to a locker room or a tent. Shouldn’t be a choice. Complete garbage on Naz. Don’t know anyone else that does that. Classless.

The Naz loss to Marist doesn't bode well for Montini versus a BR team which beat Marist in the first game of the season. But being the optimist I am you never know what can happen.

I too would like to see if the game BR played with Marist was for real or a fluke. Wasn't at that game but if that occurs in the playoffs I'd say the second time they play would favor Marist.

I have seen Montini play twice, the Rice win did not impress, the Loyola win they played a good 2nd half. I am hoping they can be competitive with Rice, but I think Rice may be a bit much for Montini.
The other side of the coin is that they are young and getting better every game.

Agreed Bronco man. Young team still feeling its way and with the better competition in the Blue than the Green, they are making progress towards the playoffs, but first things first we need to beat Fenwick Sunday!

Montini-Fenwick
"The definition of a trap game is a game in which a stronger team faces a seemingly weak team the week before facing a more formidable opponent."

Coach Nudo will have Fenwick up for this game. This is Fenwick's chance to redeem their season.

I dont know if Marist is actually really good or if Nazareth is crazy overrated, because this game could have easily been a blood bath. 7/13 points for Naz came on a clear forward pass my Markett called a fumble. This was atleast a 10 point swing if not 14. Naz has the state titles that Marist doesnt but when it comes to head to head, Marist seems to own the roadrunners any season that Marist is decent.

Marist is twice the size... thus all my previous points. Losing to a top 8a team means nothing regarding Nazareth’s future moving forward, just like last year.

It's 100% a choice. Tell Jaws to ask for locker room if it bothers you that much

He’s an outstanding player having an outstanding year. I’m partial but Ty Gavin is doing it at a very high level on both sides of the ball. I believe Michael Love is too, although I haven’t seen him play this year.

Shouldn’t be a choice. Come on now. A catholic school to boot. Jaws is just as wrong for not taking one. Getting a groin taped with tk tape or changing where everyone including cheerleaders and little kids around is absurd. I don’t care but I just don’t know any other school who does what Naz does and will stick with classless. It’s their choice to offer a tent and to do so is wrong.

pretty rich ripping on a school and it's facilities when you don"t even have your "own" facilities. I'm sure it could of been upgraded by now,but when Morris would come to Memorial Stadium in Joliet for a game they didn't even use the locker room.Got dressed in Morris a drove to Joliet for games. Nice deal if you can get it though to not have to maintain a facility and costs associated with it. Took about 20 years to get updated track facilities down this way.Didn't fall at top of list of priorities of things to get fixed.

Not gonna argue about boys changing in front of everyone and their brother with how the world is today, being right. It’s just wrong. The fact is, Naz does have a visitors locker room and visiting teams should have no choice but to use it. PERiOD! End of story!!! If you don’t think boys changing in front of parents, strangers, middle school and highschool girls, something Is definitely wrong with you. Can’t believe people defend this. If Joliet catholic did this also, shame on them too. Having your own facility has nothing to do with this issue. Grow up.

they probably agree with me and it’s a stupid issue to discuss it further. I’m done with this. I just brought it up to add to the bad experience to watch a game there as a visitor. Being a football power house, I expect better. I’m done with this. Your entitled to your opinion, as I am to mine. Have a splendid day.

Was unaware of the tent issue and agree if the tent was as open to public view as you allege that is flat out wrong. If there was a choice or other option available for the visiting team then I dunno whats the beef

Option is always there. To he honest i think only 2 or 3 teams have gone inside the last 3 years

J Chill said that players change in the tent! I was kinda surprised by that comment hence my reaction. I do know that every team I have seen comes dressed to the games so I am somewhat perplexed by his statement.

I don't know of any team that doesn't come dressed to the game unless it is a 2 or 3 hour drive.

basically only need to put on shoulder pads. maybe some pre-game tape jobs.
but, I do understand his(jchill) comments. because in this #metoo era, we have potentially entire team of flashers now.

Godfthr,

Since the Tent seems to be such a bone of contention here, just take it down and mandate the visiting team uses the locker room. Simple solution.

Jchill,

Since you picked this red line in the sand issue...how about JCA updates the joke of a locker room they provide the visitors and the Nasty and oh so rank visitors restrooms!

Option is always there. To he honest i think only 2 or 3 teams have gone inside the last 3 years

Really? As a varsity player, I only remember dressing before the bus ride once, and that was for a 10 minute drive (Naz to St Joes). That was only a little over 10 years ago. Are things just different now?

Can someone post a picture of the tent?

For practice Waubonsie kids used to change in their cars/in front of the back hatch of their cars due to crowding in the Lockeroom and time constraints to make practice on time. From what I understand a mom picking up her kid complained and a girls team coach also complained as there were shirtless boys running amuck in the parking lot and I think that practice was banned. I think WV would have loved that tent!!;)

I think Naz could be on to something - portable (so allow visitors to pick where they want the tent), no heating/AC bills, easy to set up, clean up and take down, could probably get some advertising, could be used for other teams, the list goes on.

Now that I think of it. Where is the vistors locker room at Benet? I don't think there is one at Benedictine that teams use.
