Pope knows we need talent too. He played on one of the deepest most talented teams ever.
I’m going to reiterate my post from earlier as people seem to be underestimating this kid.
He finished the year with 10 straight games in double figures, see below:
15 against Gonzaga
24 against Oklahoma
15 against Vandy
16 against South Carolina
26 against Texas
21 against Florida
18 against Auburn
16 against Mizzou
19 against Tex A&M
23 against Miss State
Him & Acaden Lewis running the PG spot together would be pretty high level I would imagine.
Not saying there aren’t better options, BUT if this is who Pope & Co want to go get, I trust it.
I wish we had Lamont next year man, with who we have with him this time would be sick.
He had 24 against us Cal’s last year, 14 this year in their win.
Oweh and DeMary together on the wing would be a solid tandem.

Nope. Demary was 37 percent from 3 this season (the same as Jaxson Robinson) and his catch and shoot metrics are in the upper percentile.
This is my take as well.
As a lead guard, he has great size and we’d likely be 6’5-7’ across our starting 5.
The versatility of a 6’5 combo guard also creates redundancy in the backcourt for if any of the 1-3 spots get in foul trouble it’s easier to slide pieces around

Yeah. IMO Lamont is elite talent.
I think Coach Pope looks at it and says if he blows $3 mil at the PG spot he's taking away money from other positions.
If we got Bailey, the Spanish kid, and the center from SDSU that's really good. Couldn't do that committing a giant pot in one place.

This kid has missed on a lot not saying this isn’t happening but he misses and just gets click bait
UNC has also contacted. A lot of blue bloods are in on him. Pope going there means he wants to end it quick. I remember the full staff flew out to Vegas last year to secure Butler. Hopefully it works again.
Plus that’s 3 stretch position players that can play multiple positions

Demary is a grown *** man, built like a 
house. He’s a great piece to add because he’s athletic, strong, proven scorer in the SEC. Just hope he’s a natural at PG and not just an athlete trying to be a PG. Thats something Cal would do.

Pope is literally a genius. He sees trends and can see where pieces fit. Look what he did in half a portal season. Think what he can do with a full year under his belt and an entire portal season.
Not to mention, players wanna play here.
Also has two years of SEC experience under his belt. A big plus.
I would say both are solid pieces, but neither is a “boom!”

I Expect him to be an upper level freshman TBH.
I’ve read from several people that he is a Tyty Washington level freshman. If so, he’s a solid 10-12 ppg scorer next year.
