That was just his *first* half court segment? Still seems like he's a ways off.
We heard the other day that Quaintance had been a full participant in practice. May not have been an official source, but it was at least reporters close to the team.

What was said here is that this was the first time we had ALL of our players on the court together. That means Dioubate was participating as well, he had been out.

Ahh I see how it was worded. Got it.

Would love to see JQ on the court soon. Based on what I’m seeing the learning curve can’t be that steep….

Well is Owen going to be okay with not just Aberdeen but also now deferring to JQ? He’s had an attitude ever since Aberdeen was brought in but now he’s going to want to feed JQ and be 3rd when he’s the man? Doubt it. Probably bringing more issues on the way.

These guys are coasting. They got paid they’re just trying to ride out the season.

Owen better really think about his options for pro ball. The nba is out, he’s not good enough for the head case issues. Overseas is what he has now, and I think that’s going to fade once the year is over the word it out. They can’t conceal this forever. This is why you don’t give kids with baby mindsets millions especially without accountability.

We are now in the days and weeks, rather than the months. - Pope.

Christmas gift? Looks like they plan to have him back for conference.

In a season +10 games, we have learned(or should) that Pope holds his cards close to his vest regarding injuries. I heard nothing he said that clearly stated that Mo is out and it could be argued that JQ is ready by tomorrow...but I'm guessing he plays against SJ. We'll need him much more in that type of game. We'll have to wait and see. I expect for him to warm up tomorrow night...maybe, maybe not.

Oh for God’s sake stop! You don’t have take a dump in every thread.

It’s just awful. So tedious and repetitive.

I bet you’re a joy to be around in real life. Find a program that fulfills you. Move on.

Getting everybody healthy and playing is a great thing. It’s what they have been missing. No team would not suffer with 2 or 3 starters out.

We have

1. A coaching staff that isn’t performing at all. Even with the players out, when they come back it’s the same story.

2. An AD that has signed the worst contract in college sports handcuffing our program and bleeding it out slowly. And there’s no indication it’ll change at all.

3. A coach who is gaslighting us to death and lying to everyone. And I supported him remaining to see if changes are coming. They’re not. Right now he’s trying to convince you JMI and Mitch’s are wonderful.

So you can play this game and worry about the molehill. Kentucky isn’t Kentucky, we’ve been a bad program going on a decade. That means blue blood status is losing steam. It’s very, very serious the position we are in. You don’t have to like people speaking reality, you’re more than welcome to pretend it doesn’t exist and molehill the thing to death. But what what do is tell people who deal in reality what they will and won’t talk about. You certainly won’t tell me a damn thing I will and won’t talk about buddy. Make sense? If JQ turns this team around great, but there’s no indication it’s going to fix this mountain of crap UK is facing so it’s going to be discussed.

The team will need to get healthy just to make the tournament. Not be a threat. This isn’t Murray. It’s a huge problem.

Like I have said for months, January is the first chance we will have at seeing him.
And what’s worrisome about that is, what kind of shape is he even going to be in? This team doesn’t play well together as it is, now Oweh is going to defer to another guy? He doesn’t want to do that now?

Really bad roster construction. What we have to hope for is they want to use this as a reason to get better. It’s not going to happen just because he plays.

And none of that is going to do anything for the systemic problems we’re facing. So it’s hard to even care until major changes are made.

I don’t think Oweh will be deferring to JQ on offense. JQ is a somewhat plodding, raw big. He has some offensive skills but they haven’t developed enough to demand a lot of touches. Anyone expecting JQ to revamp the offense are going to end up disappointed. He will absolutely be a difference maker on defense and I bet he becomes really effective as trigger man by year’s end due to his slashing threat and gravity due to it.

This team badly needs rim protection. BG can't block shots. Moreno can sometimes. But JQ is an elite shot blocker.

From jump he will be ready to go defensively. He's a capable and willing passer which will help with spacing the floor. Needs to be more aggressive and use his strength which as a freshmen he was sometimes reluctant to do. Needs to improve his footwork which will help. Hopefully he's still an explosive player after the ACL. Plodding? What! Will be more of a rim-runner and putback player on offense initially. Obviously needs work on shot selection, footwork, and post moves. Keep developing his shot from all 3 levels. He doesn't have bad mechanics. Terrible free throw shooter.

This guy is 7 months younger than Cooper Flagg before you factor in the time he's lost because of the ACL. It just might take him a while to get acclimated, but not many teams get to add a lottery pick to their lineup mid-season. Hopefully when he plays we will have the injuries to Mo D and J-Lowe behind us. Maybe, just maybe, those 3 healthy can salvage the season.

Well if he’s not the type to defer to I’m not sure what it’s going to help. We need a dependable guy who can score in spades. I realize more so from the outside but still.

Watching several of his games you sure you aren’t selling him short? He seemed to have really good footwork and touch. Seemed to me to be really crafty. Maybe I watched good games or his.

his shot blocking will be much needed tho. We are terrible with Garrison down there.

No, I don’t think I’m selling him short at all. He has a world of potential but his offensive game is very raw. He will score probably 10-12 ppg if I was guessing which is close to his ASU numbers, but on higher efficiency. He has better offensive talent around him here. I expect him to score a lot on short post drives and offensive rebounds. Describing his game is weird because he has really good fluidity of motion but yet still plays kind of stiff on offense. It is worth noting he’s had a lot of time to work on offensive fundamentals while rehabbing, so hopefully some of that shows on the court, but he’s not the kind of big that you run an offense through in the low post (assuming he hasn’t improved immensely there). I worry some are expecting Hakeem Olajuwon and he isn’t that. Think Nerlens Noel type big with more versatility offensively.

If he’s not a 16-20 guy a night I don’t see the impact. We have no go to scorers. Nobody that gets you points dependably. We need defense badly, but I just feel we don’t need another non scoring guy we need someone dependable. Now I wasn’t expecting to need that from him I was expecting he’d be 10 ppg but with the potential to do more any given night. Watching a few of his ASU games, he seemed to score with some ease under the goal so maybe I just assumed with years in his belt it would be a big improvement. I guess he was Calipari’s go to big, so I shouldn’t expect that to be offense. I just don’t know that it’ll help much honestly, but we’ll see. I used to think so but this isn’t close to the team I expected.

Also, it’s worth discussing, I think I see now why we landed him. Others probably didn’t want to get into it with an injured guy who wouldn’t be ready. But we seem desperate to land a guy like that so Mark took what he could get with the contract issues. Not a single top 10 program went after him that I remember, especially no top 5’s. I don’t know what exactly we think will happen but I am totally not seeing the turnaround I was hoping for.

In any event, after this season no more hoping for a wish in March. we’re a blueblood, the top blue blood. This is ridiculous that we keep hoping for a run. I’m getting seriously concerned the program dominance is coming to and end. Which has been the goal of Mitch (football guy) since he came here. I really didn’t think UK could turn into Indiana, but the lack of demanding action from this program is getting worse year to year. We have to demand more, not give them apathy and prayers they’re looking for.

Well, im not saying he won’t help the offense — he won’t CURE the offense. He’s going to have a lot of gravity as a trigger because you can’t really sag him. If you give gap, he will absolutely drive and jam it on you. He has excellent basketball IQ for his position and skillset as well. Also, improved defense helps the offense. If you have an elite shot blocker, it allows you to play a more high pressure defense on the perimeter, which can force turnovers and bad shots. We are an elite team offensively in transition and this will allow you to create many more opportunities there. I wouldn’t get your hopes up on 16-20 ppg unless he comes back from injury as an entirely different player, but guys like him make everything else work better without having to score. The kind of kid I love to watch most, because you can go film dive and see a thousand things they do because of gravity alone that you may not notice at first.

A guy coming into a poorly coached team off an injury and not in game shape is not going to change the trajectory.

He’s not a Mashburn coming into a good team to be the difference maker.

Only thing we can hope for is to not have a losing season.

I said very much the opposite my man. No idea how you got that from my very glowing remarks about him. I’m a big JQ fan…is there anything in my breakdown of his game that you specifically disagreed with, or is this some kind of passive aggressive remark intended to insult me somehow?
