Pelini never had a losing season and his first season showed a ton of hope. Maybe he got seven years cause NU was actually winning. I don't know. Seems logical to me. Don't remember him ever going 5-7.
Kinda like I don't remember him ever winning anything that mattered, unless you consider a whale trophy important.

All I did was point out how stupid it is to say Riley has never known winning seasons and never will. Really funny stuff. Ignorant and stupid, but funny! Your might want to try the dictionary to see what a "fact" is.. you seem to confuse it with "fiction".

KU football getting a billion dollar stadium is possible. Bubba Starling being our starting qb next year is possible. Tom Osborne replacing Riley and winning five more national championship is possible. So, yeah, I will admit that most anything is possible.

Riley very well may contend for national championships. It remains to be seen. Whole different matter to say unequivocally that we will contend for NC under Riley.
He never did win anything overly important, but he did have us playing in some pretty big games. Almost won the Big 12 in 2009 and was one extra second away from an 11 win season and a Big 12 championship. Played for 3 conference championships. Won or tied for division 4 times. Never won fewer than 9 games.
Hardly anything to hang our hats on obviously, but I would take those seasons over this past one any time. I have experienced enough 5-7 seasons to last me a lifetime. I really hope we win the upcoming bowl game, because I will find 5-8 even harder to swallow.
Yeah, it's the fans' fault NU can't get better recruits because we're not being positive enough. Meanwhile, Penn St has the #18 class and all they've done is suck. Oregon and their #10 class, must be their fans didn't get mad at all about them taking a step backwards this year.

You know how contentious this board is. You've seen it, don't play dumb. For anybody to say without a doubt Riley will contend for NCs is going to be jumped on by the opposite side. Why give fuel to the other side?
I thought Bo could contend for NCs. Did he? Nope. I thought Callahan could contend for NCs. Did he? Nope. There's a huge difference between could and will. No one knows the future... Do they?
As you saw in my answer to your troll attempt, do I think he could contend for NCs, the answer is yes. Don't make this harder than it is, and don't try to put words in my mouth that were never there, one way or the other.
To sum up, Riley could contend for National Championships, the operative word being could. Will he? Not many coaches in america have, so it remains to be seen if he will or not. You're trying to play word games with me but you're not very good at it, so stop.

The point is simple...there are moving goal posts. I want a coach who I think will contend for national championships. I guarantee you Florida fans think that of their coach. Michigan fans think that of their coach. We should be able to think that of our coach and not move the goal posts. Play the troll card all you want. I too hope Riley will get us to the Promised Land. Do I think he will? Nope.
And your solution? The hire may have been a curious hire, but what do we do from here? Do you want me to lie and say unequivocally that I think Riley can win us a NC? Or at least contend for one?
We went with a coach who can hopefully fix some things that needed fixing, and in the process build a foundation for some things we haven't seen in 15 years. He may even be the guy to do it himself (bring us an NC or two), but if he doesn't, he will at least have laid a foundation for future success. I will say unequivocally that I believe he can do that. He will bring us to a place where if we aren't where we want to be, we will at least be able to see it.
That will be a foundation the next guy can hopefully capitalize on.
