Rahmir is doing better in all phases than the other backs and that is why he is currently starting. I would think Michigan has to now be planning for Yant being in the game quit a bit. I think of the two, Yant will be the guy that is able to turn a two yard gain into a four yarder.

I agree. We will need Yant against Michigan since those running lanes are going to be much narrower and will close quickly. We need a back who can pound it in there and get four yards out of two.

Yants big run looked better than any other run this year. He juked a guy, outran another and stiff armed a cb for 15 yards. He looked gassed otherwise he probably could have run it in. All our other backs seem to go into contact and go down easy. I hope Yant puts on a show Saturday to become the #1. I think Held was hoping his guys would emerge but Yant looks like the best back we have.

I think stepp has the tools, he just needs feild vision and stop plowing into the backs of blockers and maybe make a cut towards the open feild...

the only time you should be running into blockers backs is at like the 1 yard line. or maybe 4th and 1.

He has the tools. But so far he has not developed them. Injuries set him back? Who knows? But as it stands now he is probably only our fourth best back. I would put Morrison ahead of him. No idea what the heck happened to Marvin Scott. Inconsistent in practice is my guess. I think I read something to that effect from a coach...

Stepp is a straight ahead power back. He'll fight for extra yards but he's not a homerun threat. That what he was at USC and that's what he's been for us. I think he's been exactly as advertised.

Problem for Stepp is Yant is bigger, maybe just as fast, and can actually make people miss. Yant gives us a better shot at breaking a play open. If Stepp wants back in to the rotation, he's going to have to show he can be more than just a straight ahead, fight for extra an extra yard or two, RB.

Any of the Cornhusker running backs can take the rock and go, as long as there is blocking. There should be no game from here on out that at least 1 running back doesn’t have 100+ yards. I really wanted to see Gabe Irvin have a break-out game. Hope he recovers from injury without too much loss in speed and agility.

From what I've seen, both Rahmir and Yant have some wiggle when needed. That is less apparent with Stepp and Morrison.
I really like what Rahmir has been bringing the last few weeks. There's been times where there's been seemingly nothing there and he still gets 3 yards whereas we've had others get stuffed at the line of scrimmage. And with Rahmir's speed, he's a real threat to break a long one if he gets a little blocking help downfield.

Plus he seems to have a real attitude when he blocks, like he enjoys laying the wood..

To be fair, Stepp hasn't had the same opportunity behind the new lineup on the OL.

He hasn't looked better or worse than really anyone else, until we changed things last week that all of a sudden the running game took off.

I think there is still a chance Stepp sees the field this year and has a chance at some success there.

He could, but I have a hard time seeing it. His vision is bad. I know he ran behind a **** O-line, but hell even Yant made a nice move and cut to find a crease a few times. When Stepp got in, in garbage time he still ran straight forward. With some of the new looks it might help that he is a little deeper and has a better chance to find the hole, but until he goes to the right spot, I see the others playing more. Also has to improve pass blocking./

Agree on Yant.. it was apparent that he had talent in the spring game.. Scott held him out because of his weight. He could have helped us earlier in the year. Scott’s player mis-management bites us again.

I guess we should be glad he is playing the best players now, halfway into the season, but we could have used those guys earlier.

I think QBs are no different that RBs. Some QBs seem to have eyes in the back of their head and have no problem finding open guys. IMO, Adrian doesn't have great "vision" for finding open receivers. That missed opportunity on the first play of OT at MSU was glaring. He was rolling to that side. That should have been a relatively easy find in the middle of the field. That said, getting hit and sacked as much as he has hasn't helped his "vision". Some guys process the visual information seemingly or have better peripheral vision than others. I need the "shrugging shoulders" emoticon here.
Absolutely dingle! I would guess the 1st two years of hikes flying everywhere maybe didn't help TMart's rhythm very much. Heh, also, add to that our OLine simply couldn't block anybody. With the Oline quite possibly getting better & the wild hikes gone.....well, that may help AMart & NU a lot.

So who knows partner? But I'm now fired up! :)
