The second act was even worse. Why have a performer if you have to bleep out half of what he is "singing"?

I gotta disagree. I don't like Maroon 5 and wouldn't give a dime to see them live. But, for what they are, a second rate, pop band which is very limited, I thought they were as good as they could be (very low expectations). However, the two other 'artists' were beyond pathetic and cemented my belief that the whole of rap musicians possess almost no musical talent whatsoever. Shouting over canned music and heavy bass drum is NOT music.

I've actually heard much worse SB halftime shows - Beyonce comes to mind. As do many others. Maroon 5 was not GOOD by any objective measure, but considering the limited talent they possess, they were probably in the middle of SB suckitude.

Terrible half-time show and the worst in recent memory.

Prince
Katy Perry
Bruno Mars
U2
Coldplay

All were better. At least the performance matched the theme of Puntfest.

60% of the people who view the Super Bowl are males. Why have a teeny bopper band perform at halftime when the average median age group is 35 to 64. Who can really relate to that music especially the rappers.
And by the way, although scream and yapping teenage girls surrounding the stage was paid people brought in by buses who never even got to attend actual game. The whole show was a major bust

I know they’re trying to appeal to a wide audience but pairing rappers with pop bands is just plain bad. Aerosmith with Britney? Awful. Just have a good band play 4 songs and be done. Guess it’s too much to hope that they put a good, youngish, less known band like Blackberry Smoke on at the Super Bowl. Maybe just do away with the ‘performances’ and just have a normal 20-minute halftime. Hard to imagine that the halftime show sells any products when, most years, it’s a train wreck.

It is a tough gig, this year lots of bands/artists turned it down because of problems they had with the NFL.

So, you over the years, Super Bowl has had a lot of former greats who are over the hill, e.g., Bruce, Madonna, Petty, the Who - joke was made when they played a few years ago, that they would have been GREAT at Super Bowl III

Or rappers who appeal to a rather limited fanbase, but important demographic for the younger audience the NFL wants to appeal to

Or teeny boppers (Katy Perry!!!)

Country is out of place at halftime

Frankly, I agree with gamecockcat - just run out a great marching band, yesterday maybe a choir from one of the many historic churches in Atlanta to give it a local flavor, and then kickoff the 2nd half. It is really over the top and way more than we need

If they had a top world-class Drum Corps out there, the crowd wouldn't know what to do. It's a sound you can't imagine without actually having seen one.

I remember when Norfolk State played at Commonwealth (2008 I think). The whole stadium was up dancing and gave the band a standing ovation. It was awesome

Hot garbage - canned 2nd rate pop music with an average singer and incoherent rap music with an overweight hanger on local clown (Andre3K was the talent) and a bleeped jagoff wearing a space station tool belt.

Half time show matched the game - boring and lame.
