For such a highly rated prospect, his recruitment has been very quiet. I expected some of the top tier Pac-12 schools to come after him, but that doesn't seem to be the case. Do the coaches have a unique connection to Calabasas from their Oregon State days or is Dismuke just really solid in his decision to attend NU? I see his official visit is coming up in a couple weeks. Keeping him committed and getting him enrolled is as important as landing the other DB prospects on the recruiting board.

I think they have gone after him but I thought him and his father (I think) made it very clear that he was done...I also think he is a very quiet kid that doesn't really like the recruiting process all that much.
The poaching season is just beginning and these coaches give it the old college try before fall back season begins. The NCAA needs an early signing period but it will never happen because of opposition by the blue bloods .A topic dead again at this years conclave.

not sure i quite understand that type of connection from a Cali kid to a midwestern school without at least checking out some other options.
He's been around other options. He likes what he sees at NU and loves our coaching staff. Riley's rep helps.
Mike Riley & Keyshawn Johnson, very strong relationship & it's reason #1 why we got Dismuke plus have a legit shot at 4* Keyshawn Jr, 4*Gebbia and 5* Holmes. Not to mention, former Husker Bryan Wilson is a coach at Calabasas.
Any shot of Wilson being the secondary coach if Stewart left? Obvious recruiting connection not sure on his coaching skills of course.
True, but everyone knows IMG is a sports factory and nothing else. Calabasas is a public school.

Agree 100%. We need to get guys on campus and that would be harder to do with an early signing period.
May I ask why that will happen? Just hoping that wont happen as I enjoy being able to give my bro-in-law **** about LH athletics.
Although it's a much smaller number, it doesn't impact basketball recruiting. They have two signing periods and I absolutely believe football should have two as well. Sure, there are negatives and positives, without putting too much thought in to it, my initial reaction is two signing periods would benefit a school like Nebraska.
The prospects that commit to Nebraska prior to the season are (9 of 10 times) prospects that already visited, on their own dime. Whether it was junior day, weekend trip without a camp, or one of the camps (Big Red Weekend, QB camp, etc) hosted by our staff on campus.
I'm curious for this discussion to continue with anyone interested.....

I'm not Cornicator, but I do have an opinion. Earlier signing period (meaning way early), two signing periods, or even sign at any time, in general well-informed recruits would delay signing until they are absolutely sure concerning their choice. It may take a couple years to flesh out. Some kids choose because of a particular coach, that may be gone after signing. Some kids may choose because they look to be in a favorable position to play, that may be gone after more recruits sign.
It is an interesting topic.
Edit: I failed to give my overall opinion, which is, I think would be good for college football.
I think it would be good for college football as a whole. It would eliminate the scenario where a kid gets their offer pulled a week or two before signing day. It would force some schools to adjust their recruiting tactics and be more open to recruits.
I also feel if they bring in an early signing period, they need to let official visits happen over the summer before a recruits senior year. I believe they are already planning to extend officials to also cover parents costs to visit. That's a good change.
