Does anyone think that Marrow possibly moves up to OC? It may be a very risky move due to his inexperience but may prove valuable in recruiting. Ultimately, I think all position coaches need to have a similar philosophy or background as their Offensive Coordinator, with this thought in mind would Coach Stoops feel more comfortable talking to Marrow about what offense he wants to see on the field and let him build the position coaches. I see this as the least likely course of action but a choice non the less.

Look at his resume. Prior to coming to UK he had one year as a full time staff member at the college level.

mrsshwump, not saying that I think this should happen or Marrow would be a good option, but I was just wondering how all the pieces fall. We have to know that there are several schools above us in the pecking order that need OCs, hopefully Coach Stoops had one lined up before he fired the one we had or at least had some other plan of action.

If Marrow is named OC it means Stoops is OC as well as DC imo.

Smashcat, I would agree with you on that. I truly think the move of putting DJ in the booth was more of a way for Coach Stoops to have more control of the Defense during in game decisions. Sometimes delegation can be hard for individuals to master.

Surely he's been thinking about this for some time. He has to have an idea of who he'll target. But I wouldn't expect anything to break on this for several weeks.

schwump, I surely would like to think he has been. I am sure we won't hear anything official until after the actual job announcement closes from the university. Ultimately, Coach Stoops has to hire someone he feels comfortable with and someone he feels can coach the talent we currently have, whether we as fans like the hire or not. I truly believe this could be his first and last hire unless its a good fit.

Frankly, it spite of his obvious outstanding recruiting success, I'm still not 100% sold on Marrow as a position coach, let alone an OC. Much of that is based on the lack of talent when he and Stoops first came in for the 2013 season. I think Conrad is a real talent, but the dysfunction of the offense this past prevented us from seeing all that Conrad is capable. Plus, we saw very little if anything from Darryl Long.

I would love to see Marrow expand his role to an Associate Coach. He role would be to facilitate communication between different aspects of the team, manage player personnel packages, and ensure quality control on game day, sort of like a bench coach on an MLB team. I think that would play to his organizational / motivational strengths and address an obvious weakness on the team.

I think that is a very good idea & one that he would likely be very good at.
