I was over my parents last night and talking about this with my dad. It’s crazy how many boxers used to bd household names, but I bet the majority of people can’t name a single boxer today.
Tommy Hearns had some cool nicknames. He first went by the Motor City Cobra, then changed it to Hitman. I could have swore he also went by the Cat as well.

60s thru mid 80s boxing was great entertainment, then it seemed to become diluted with all the different organizations, each recognizing different champions. when i had my black-box satellite system i never missed a ppv fight. i used to really look forward to olympic boxing back when cuba and the usa were duking it out. i don’t know if the olympics even has boxing anymore? i can’t tell you the name of any of today’s fighters.

Yes, they still have it. Love watching Olympic boxing. You get 3 rounds to do your stuff, and no, I couldn't name a single boxer today because I have zero interest in it. I will still watch the Olympic boxing though. After basketball and track and field, it was my favorite event, with swimming just behind.

I looked for boxing during the last olympics but never saw it on any schedules.
