If Pope is doing this whole thing backwards, year one is when you pick up guys like this. So that you can build around them by year three it’s called building a program, but he came in with all of these older guys that was gonna be his model and his model stunk whatever he was just doing it all too wrong getting the wrong players.. if he thinks now he can start pulling in young guys and then playing the we young excuse after next season I’m sorry, but that’s not gonna work. Kentucky fans will revolt against this guy and it’ll be like he never played for Kentucky by the time he leaves. That’s the distain that we have generated. Based upon listening to lies and guys try to talk their way out of bad situations whether it’s cal or this guy whether it’s Barney or stoops. This guy doesn’t move the needle. He’s definitely a recruit for the future. And not future recruiting year one and two especially year 1 you’re bringing your freshman. It’s just what you do. I’d program building 101. you bring in freshman year one. The freshman we brought in are not Kentucky standard players. Trent noah is not gonna win a title. I mean, he could play a Cam Mills type role, Travis Perry was let go and you know that’s what happens if you’re not a good coach and you bring in freshman you get exposed and they leave. I mean, what’s gonna happen with JJ and Moreno. Honestly, the best recruit outside of Stokes that Pope could land right now is Moreno and in my opinion JJ with a lot of off-season coaching. Something that didn’t occur last year pope was barely around the team until like the first games.. you know if I got a player like JJ with his measurable’s, the fact that he’s a legacy player on the coach of this freaking traditional program maybe the most in all basketball. I don’t care if I make 5 million or five dollars gonna be in the gym with that kid me one on one with him, teaching him how to stinkin defend. Im gonna pull my best defending guard into the sessions. I may pull my best attacking guard to use to put pressure on a guy like JJ. This is what you have to do to develop players. This is called. This is what cal didn’t wanna do that. we were so angry about. And eventually someone else would do it in the staff would bring a player up to speed.. Cals roster and the talent what was its own teacher. Pope doesn’t have that man. He doesn’t have practices with a bunch of super studs NBA players that can elevate. I mean he’s a terrible bench coach, but when it comes to motivating and getting guys to develop in one season, that’s where he’s excels. Problem for pope is he doesn’t have a coach worth anything to develop a player right now. He needs a strong player developer and that’s where you could go and find a guy like Rajon Rondo to do what ulis is doing and be that one on one Coach whose ensuring players have fundamentals every player can defend especially of top 15 guy out of high school.

I don’t wanna say pope can evaluate talent. I think we had talent on this year‘s team and last year‘s team. I think we were definitely top 15 talent. We should’ve been in the top 15 no matter what.. I think the problem for pope is that he can’t develop individual talent and then he has a hard time connecting that to the core values of the team. That’s where his problem is. It’s like he can teach a player individually or he could coach a team, but he can’t do both and have them just like merge like that that’s how you know a great coach when you know mid January they start hitting their stride and you can tell the skies the limit. Say you can tell a good coach on some levels on so many levels whether it’s his staff. whether it’s in game coaching. Whether it’s and this is another big issue for him his players do not look fit at all, and their strength at their respectable position is generally weaker than their counterpart or their competition.. oweh was the only exception and he’s all Popes had like for everybody who like says pope this pope that pope we love what popes doing or they try to justify the losing whatever if you remove one player from the program over the last two years, we are a losing program for two years straight. Nobody wants to talk about that. That’s how close this guy has been to being the worst coach in Kentucky history and now was he have no Oweh. Even if your Land Stokes, I mean, you don’t have physical team. It’s a team that can’t defend. Oh man it’s all catch 22 with the position he put us and we can’t have a defensive team and a strong offensive team simultaneously.. he can’t do it he he’s never done it. I mean, he could’ve played lockdown defense at BYU and tried to take teams. You know teams that were much better trying to beat them the way normally inferior teams have to play which is grinding it out. Instead, Pope played this wild up tempo that could win in the mountain West or whatever conference but did not do well in the tournament. You gotta be able to win in the 80s and 90s and in the 60s and 70s. Sorry about my long post, but I got a lot to say.
Way too much time on your hands with that book. 👀

Likes don’t mean you know anything. You worry you'll too much about who likes you too much. I’m sure when you come out of the basement into the light you have few, if anyone that likes you. Just because you look like Quasimodo and you’re stupid you need to fight through that. And fyi, the only people liking your posts are Pope pumpers and people that feel sorry for your ignorant *ss. Past your bedtime girl.
Haha, keep firing those triggered posts my man, you'll be up to 150 in no time lol

I’m excited to see the kid. He looks like a hard nosed player who can do the little things and help you right away while he continues to develop. This is a Tubby type player. I love this addition.

This move is just like last year when we needed major talent added to the roster and the first commit was Kam Williams. That’s about as good as it got last year and this is about as good as it will get this year. This kid will transfer out when Mark is fired next year.

I like the optics mark is going with here though. The tough guy “I’m serious now” looks good. Maybe an F bomb or a RMK episode on someone will sell it.
I read on Rob Bromley’s Discord that Pope pistol whipped Mitch right in front of Williams on his recruiting visit. Trying to confirm but if true it looks like it paid off. Apparently he got a tear drop tattoo as well (Pope, not Barney).

Dark Pope they’re calling him.

Lmao this is goofy. So, you don’t take a commitment for a backup PG because it doesn’t align with some random roster construction process?! Lmao
I’ll spell it out for you in more detail later, but yes, the reserves are all replaceable. Should not be given priority. There is no reason to add this guy now. Can get dozens and dozens like him in the portal.

Agree to disagree. So we’re gonna be able to land a junior/senior portal player that wants to play 10-12 minutes a game and come off the bench?! I highly doubt that. Most of these portal guys want to step into a starting role or at least a key rotation role.

Where have I dogged him? List examples.

I do question why did he not have any good offers? Why he is ranked 125th in the composite ranking? I do not think he is an immediate impact player and that we will need a year or 2 at least to develop. None of that is dogging him.

You do realize there is this thing called the transfer portal, right? You can get proven, immediate impact players and even role players with more experience. That is high more valuable when it's make or break time. It not like the only options are hs players.
When the portal actually opens April 7th I'm sure he will get about 5 or 6.

Russell Westbrook was a relatively unheralded 3-star recruit out of Leuzinger High School in Lawndale, California, in 2006. He was not highly ranked nationally, often flying under the radar until his senior year, when he blossomed physically and became a standout player in Southern California

For SGA was also a 4* and probably the the lowest ranked of our recruits that season.

He may not be a 5 star, but I am willing to bet he will be a better player than Dajuan Wagner! Wagner was a 5-star point guard that plays like a 3 star. I will take a solid built 6'2 true point guard that shots 40% from 3. His Father was a better NBA player than DJ was also.

Michael Jordan did not make his high school varsity as a freshman and Mason Williams did.

Mason Williams is potentially better than Michael Jordan.

Travis Perry was ranked 88.
Trent Noah was ranked 120.
Williams is ranked 125.
if we can get Travis Perry back, who would beat this team?????????? PG-Williams SG Perry SF Chandler
PF Noah C garrison. 40-0. Pope deserves calipari life time contract.

I get your frustration. However, do you have to try to piss on any drop of sunshine. This kid chose to join the university of Kentucky because of that I support him. There are plenty of other threads to bash Pope.

DJ Wagner was ranked in the top 10 and some had him number 1 for awhile. These rankings aren’t perfect. I remember Gerald Fitch as an unranked player coming out of HS. Mason’s tape looks good and he performed well his senior year.

Wrong. Cal turned a pile of dog**** into a top 2-3 team in the country. Immediately got one of the best PG’s and C’s UK’s ever had. Got another star caliber PG who could play the 2 and got PP to come back. Man I stg if he’d paid Jodie enough. Née ride a. Nice loan. We’d went undefeated.
