Yeah not reading that. Have a cliff notes version? If Pope is doing this whole thing backwards, year one is when you pick up guys like this. So that you can build around them by year three it’s called building a program, but he came in with all of these older guys that was gonna be his model and his model stunk whatever he was just doing it all too wrong getting the wrong players.. if he thinks now he can start pulling in young guys and then playing the we young excuse after next season I’m sorry, but that’s not gonna work. Kentucky fans will revolt against this guy and it’ll be like he never played for Kentucky by the time he leaves. That’s the distain that we have generated. Based upon listening to lies and guys try to talk their way out of bad situations whether it’s cal or this guy whether it’s Barney or stoops. This guy doesn’t move the needle. He’s definitely a recruit for the future. And not future recruiting year one and two especially year 1 you’re bringing your freshman. It’s just what you do. I’d program building 101. you bring in freshman year one. The freshman we brought in are not Kentucky standard players. Trent noah is not gonna win a title. I mean, he could play a Cam Mills type role, Travis Perry was let go and you know that’s what happens if you’re not a good coach and you bring in freshman you get exposed and they leave. I mean, what’s gonna happen with JJ and Moreno. Honestly, the best recruit outside of Stokes that Pope could land right now is Moreno and in my opinion JJ with a lot of off-season coaching. Something that didn’t occur last year pope was barely around the team until like the first games.. you know if I got a player like JJ with his measurable’s, the fact that he’s a legacy player on the coach of this freaking traditional program maybe the most in all basketball. I don’t care if I make 5 million or five dollars gonna be in the gym with that kid me one on one with him, teaching him how to stinkin defend. Im gonna pull my best defending guard into the sessions. I may pull my best attacking guard to use to put pressure on a guy like JJ. This is what you have to do to develop players. This is called. This is what cal didn’t wanna do that. we were so angry about. And eventually someone else would do it in the staff would bring a player up to speed.. Cals roster and the talent what was its own teacher. Pope doesn’t have that man. He doesn’t have practices with a bunch of super studs NBA players that can elevate. I mean he’s a terrible bench coach, but when it comes to motivating and getting guys to develop in one season, that’s where he’s excels. Problem for pope is he doesn’t have a coach worth anything to develop a player right now. He needs a strong player developer and that’s where you could go and find a guy like Rajon Rondo to do what ulis is doing and be that one on one Coach whose ensuring players have fundamentals every player can defend especially of top 15 guy out of high school.
I don’t wanna say pope can evaluate talent. I think we had talent on this year‘s team and last year‘s team. I think we were definitely top 15 talent. We should’ve been in the top 15 no matter what.. I think the problem for pope is that he can’t develop individual talent and then he has a hard time connecting that to the core values of the team. That’s where his problem is. It’s like he can teach a player individually or he could coach a team, but he can’t do both and have them just like merge like that that’s how you know a great coach when you know mid January they start hitting their stride and you can tell the skies the limit. Say you can tell a good coach on some levels on so many levels whether it’s his staff. whether it’s in game coaching. Whether it’s and this is another big issue for him his players do not look fit at all, and their strength at their respectable position is generally weaker than their counterpart or their competition.. oweh was the only exception and he’s all Popes had like for everybody who like says pope this pope that pope we love what popes doing or they try to justify the losing whatever if you remove one player from the program over the last two years, we are a losing program for two years straight. Nobody wants to talk about that. That’s how close this guy has been to being the worst coach in Kentucky history and now was he have no Oweh. Even if your Land Stokes, I mean, you don’t have physical team. It’s a team that can’t defend. Oh man it’s all catch 22 with the position he put us and we can’t have a defensive team and a strong offensive team simultaneously.. he can’t do it he he’s never done it. I mean, he could’ve played lockdown defense at BYU and tried to take teams. You know teams that were much better trying to beat them the way normally inferior teams have to play which is grinding it out. Instead, Pope played this wild up tempo that could win in the mountain West or whatever conference but did not do well in the tournament. You gotta be able to win in the 80s and 90s and in the 60s and 70s. Sorry about my long post, but I got a lot to say.
Philon from Alabama and Fears from Michigan St were 4 stars. Don’t get hung up on the star ratings. Welcome to UK Mason.and Keaton Wagler for Illinois was rated lower than him, your point? Plenty of elite college players weren't top recruits. Time will tell but no need to be blatantly negative for no reason.
Trent is still a great shooter. Getting a PG who can get you the ball to get you shoots killed Trent. He never played with Lowe and DA and OO usually became a two man game. And he will work hardYeah. Trent Noah was ranked higher than him. I really hope that he wasn’t thought of as the starter.
Dude, do you have to be antagonistic about every post in every player.Nice quality pickup for Pope! 3 months from now, the usual suspects will try to move the goalpost, and claim he’s a 5* like they do Johnson and Moreno![]()
Who would you trust more with development? Brad Underwood and his staff or Mark Pope and his staff?and Keaton Wagler for Illinois was rated lower than him, your point? Plenty of elite college players weren't top recruits. Time will tell but no need to be blatantly negative for no reason.
Unless he's good enough to be a starter and that would be awesomeFine with it as long as he's not the starter

Looks pretty good to me. Three level scorer, with incredible shooting splits. Takes good care of the ball. Can do a little bit of everything. Drives to the basket well.uh oh!!! It’s not the #1 player in the nation and what’s this 4 stars beside his name, instead of 5? Can Pope even count?
I’ll say it again, the uneducated children that are making fun of this commitment is why no one wants to coach or play here.
Imagine, not watching a single second of the kid play and you already wrote him off as not being good because another man told you he needs 4 stars beside his name instead of 5.That’s the definition of a low IQ fan.
underwhelming.... describes you to a tee
Yes the splits and pedigree are great. It really will come down to his patience and work. We need to start having at least 5 guards.Lots to like. Dad was a pro and a coach and he’s got excellent shooting splits.
Agreed. Unlike Noah, Williams played against elite talent.and Keaton Wagler for Illinois was rated lower than him, your point? Plenty of elite college players weren't top recruits. Time will tell but no need to be blatantly negative for no reason.
12th ranked PG should be the back up because we need an experienced PG startingI really like this guy! I don’t understand how he’s rated so low. His shooting splits were 60/41/89! I mean, 60% for a guard is insane!
YikesHis offer sheet was Jacksonville St., Ole Miss, Texas Tech, Washington and East Carolina.
Adou Thiero was a 3* and he did pretty well.People on here dogging out a 4 Star commit to UK. We have lost the title of smartest fanbase
Yeah I'm sure he wasn't recruited to be the starter this upcoming season. I'm sure we will be going after one in the portal. I think Lowe is gone.N

Dude ain’t nobody gonna read all that garbage unless they’re stuck on the toilet for like two hours. If Pope is doing this whole thing backwards, year one is when you pick up guys like this. Right ... good get if you can keep him around.the kid can shoot and is skilled. That’s a start I’ll take it. He gotta stay around 3/4 years
It's really not a hard concept to understand in the abstract, but I think it's pretty hard to overcome when you've been trained to accept and have accepted that high school recruiting rankings and NBA projected draft positions of high school seniors and college freshmen are how you determine who the "best" CBB players are every year.Someone will be. Williams rated 100-110 range and Wagler 150+. People in the same rankings as Williams turn out to be studs quite often, as a matter of fact most the remaining teams in the NCAA tournament are made up or 3-4 star guys just like Williams. This isn't a hard concept to understand.
Oh, man, I know it. This guy is basically Kobe and Jordan in one.Someone will be. Williams rated 100-110 range and Wagler 150+.
