Wittlake wins 3-1. Was in on a lot of shots but had trouble finishing. I wonder if he was just being really cautious because Cook can pin ya if you’re not careful.

Hopefully Mastro isn’t injured too bad. Is Witcraft good to go on Sunday at Mizzou?

Much improved. Only real disappointment was Mastro getting ridden like a mule the last 4 minutes of his match. Congrats to Surber. Hopefully we can follow it up in Columbia.
Here is what is so disappointing about Mastro is that Tanner Jordan has a 11-13 record and Andegre has him rated 77th at 125. What has happened to Mastro and if nothing changes how could he possibly be an All American. Watching the beginning of the Penn. St dual Hildebrand rode Ohio St. where he couldn't get off his stomach and I couldn't help thinking that he could kill Mastro if the ref wouldn't protect him. Wittlake looks injured and careful but still won. Daton got aggressive and got the pin. Nice win by Plott and Surber. We were better than last weekend and hopefully get better on Sunday.

Guys wrestled much better tonight. Hope Mastro isn't hurt too bad. Still think Travis isn't quite right, he bailed on a few shots tonight that he normally scores on. Plott looked good, but I wish he'd put more effort into riding early in his matches. Really liked how Surber came out aggressive tonight. Lee Roy said he was wrestling like he does in the room, so maybe he'll keep it up

When you’re wrestling a guy like Travis Wittlake wrestled you have to finish clean. That guy is a funky pinner and Travis knew it. That’s why he was bailing out on those shots. Why his opponent wasn’t dinged for stalling a couple of times is frustrating.

Mastro needs to get stronger. If only every freshman came in with superhuman AJ Ferrari strength things would be much easier.

Just watched the Hildebrant-Heinselman match. Hopefully him and Mastro don’t meet early in the tournament no way Mastro is getting off of bottom from him.

Maestro appear to be hurt bad could not bend leg or put any weight on leg. They had to pick him up to take him to locker room.

John said the other day that Mastro is a little dinged up. Could be a factor in his troubles on bottom. I noticed him wincing during the AF match in Dec and thought there was a chance he might miss the Wyoming dual.

That felt like a break out performance by Surber
He needed a good performance after doing absolutely nothing last weekend with both matches within reach. Istate would have been a bigger reach but he had a chance to win straight up and chose not to do it. But he wasn't the only one who failed to show up last week.

This team is wrestling tight. It sounds like John is working on getting them to loosen up.

Nothing like having to rank the day of a dual to get your attention. Other weights would have done the same thing if there was someone as close as Harris and Surber are.

Geer with the 16-7 MD. Much more energy tonight.
Our seats are in the SE corner and directly oppisite our coaches so we can see (and sometimes hear) everything the coach do/say. Early in Geer's match after he almost got reversed while over extending, working for the near-fall, Smith said, "Cut him". Geer turned toward center, looked down and shook head to which John said, "Don't shake your head, cut him". I think Geer could have turned him but he did what Smith told him.

I also noticed that when the guy who I think is our weight coach was helping Mastro to the lockers, Ferrarii jumped up from the bench and tried to help pick him up to carry him. I believe he would have picked him up himself (easily) but the weight coach put out his hand nd stopped him. Ferrari didn't seem to be hurting too much at that moment.

Mastro has to be dealing with a injury. There is no other excuse for getting rode for 2 periods. He’s had some trouble so far in his career but it’s been 2x as bad the last couple of weeks. Something is not right with him. He gets to his feet fairly easily but once there just flares his arms around and doesn’t work for any hand/wrist control and gets returned. He doesn’t use his hips to thrust out or hip heist or anything. It would make sense if he was dealing with a rib issue or something like a strain in the core area.

Other than Mastro, I thought everybody looked a lot better compared to last week.

I think Carter Young is a couple of more weeks away from really putting it together. Every week he looks better and improved. He just lacks a little strength to finish those high singles and he needs to learn some patience waiting for his shot. He lost that match last night because he was rushing his offense at the end and took a sloppy half shot in distance and he guy countered. I think that happened against Ian Parker last week too. I do think Carter will be competitive at the Big12’s in a tough weight class.

The Mizz dual tomorrow will tell us everything we need to know about where this team is at. Lots of ranked guys and it’s at their place. Every weight with the exception for 133 and 141 will be tough!

Sorry, Allan Hart at 141 is #8 on Flo rankings. So Basically 133 is the only weight the Mizz tigers aren’t ranked at.

AJ rocks

I hope like anything he can regain form this year after a horrific accident

Mastro wins by 2-1 but was awful from bottom. He’s going to have a tough time placing at Nationals if he doesn’t improve. Looks like he got injured at the end of the match. Hope he’s alright.
I believe John said on his radio show that if they had to do it again they’d rethink putting Mastro down. Times might be changing.
