Quit while you’re behind!
Guessing you were born/hatched about 2002, still have ache problem that is making it difficult for you to date anything but mutants, along with still living with your parents and cleaning toilets at McDonald’s ..which in turn gives you big man behind the screen complex!
And playing Madden doesn’t give you credibility on the topic of football..

Mods, please flush this turd!
The toilets don’t get cleaned at McDonald’s. The mods will flush me soon enough.

I agree some teams may have keyed in on him more to neutralize the threat. Also makes me question the Big12 OL play vs. B1G. I don’t think he magically got worse in the offseason. I think the competition might be a notch up.

Mathis has gotten close a number of times but needs to show more aggressiveness to finish plays. I feel like his effort drops from 100% to 85% after the first 3 seconds. I wanna see his motor churn until the whistle.
Frost and his pals literally made every player on the roster worse.

There has been a shocking lack of development with maybe a few exceptions scattered around, depending what you count (like Riley guys who got better like Damion Daniels).

It’s been mentioned plenty that the fact our entire offensive production is coming from transfers says something about how we’ve not brought guys in and developed them.

Ever since you joined this board in 2001 we haven’t won a championship. Why don’t you leave so we can get back to winning championships. You have brought nothing but bad luck
3 months after you joined the world went to crap.
Your world has always been crap, dumbass.

Not sure how anyone can judge the effectiveness of Mathis or anyone else on the roster at this point. My eyes tell me holes in the roster due to poor evaluation and poor development, to include S & C (I'm going out on a limb with this last since I really am not qualified to judge S & C).

It's unfair to judge MJ at this point, or a new HC next season, due to the above. We'd all like to believe that a new HC could walk into NU like Bielma did at IL and turn it around in one season. Problem is, Lovey did a hell of a job recruiting at IL before he was canned and that's what Fat Boy walked into.

Whoever is HC at NU next year may have some studs at some positions but absolute disasters at others. Fair to judge a new HC on that?

I'd be looking for the quality of staff he hires, (which, if any of the current staff members he retains) including the S & C position.

I'd also be interested in the position types they are able to recruit and if they are focusing on obvious areas of weakness. I'd be interested in the amount of NIL dollars they are willing to spend to upgrade the talent level.

Early indications that the new coach(s) are moving players into different positions could mean they feel some kids have been out of position. As Busch and Mickey have done to a lesser extent so far.

There will also be the issue of NU kids that might transfer, and the potential of a handful of players who might declare early.

It's gonna be a big process, but there are guys out there that can begin to turn this into a respectable program again.

I would be surprised if very many people on this board actually know or will have ever heard of the new assistants that will be coming in with a new HC. But, we want the best, most proven ones out there, right?

Does the coaching staff actually get involved with NIL money and using that as recruiting bait? That doesn't seem right to me but what do I know.

They can only tell recruits what NIL deals have been made with current or past players.

How is it any different than using a recruiter from a school system/business trying to bring in educators/employees from another district/company?

They go by their reputation, word of mouth, maybe how their classes performed in test scores and how they might fit into your prospective system.

There's no guarantee those hired are going to be the best, the most proven, given all the phony test scores some of these school systems have manipulated to shed a false light on their progress.

Academics/companies all use incentives as recruiting bait as well, just not in 6 figures range.

Wonder if he'd rather be at TCU. Playing better for our defense lately, yet built more like a strong safety. Wonder if TCU couldn't come up with the NIL$
I see your point however he’s not at all built like a strong safety. He’s 6’5” 260 lbs. I think his issue is he’s not used to facing BIG10 offensive lineman. Every time he gets blocked he seems to stand up like he’s shocked he didn’t just blow right by the guy.

The staff can’t direct NIL money.

He isn’t 260. I don’t care what he’s listed at. I think he’s 20 lbs lighter than that.

Can’t say I know the inner workings, but like @dinglefritz said they can’t direct the money at all.
My impression is that they may be able leak who they’re targeting since info on offers generally is made public anyway, or at minimum the kids can disclose they got an offer.
The private NIL groups forming are then tasked with staying on top of things to extend their NIL deals.
They could even be independently making some NIL offers to talented guys to entice them to consider Nebraska. I’m guessing they could put clauses on offers as “if you commit to Nebraska, you’ll get a lot of money—- if you commit elsewhere, you’ll get less or nothing.”

I think seeing too many deals going sour in these early years will level the market out. Mathis probably got a lot, but has brought little value from that, etc. Guys get hurt or transfer, etc etc. The NIL companies still want to spend their money wisely.

Ok call it 240. I'll give you them even buffering his height. Actual measurables...6'4" 240....He's not built like a strong safety....like at all. That's 2 inches and 20 lbs bigger than the biggest safety in the NFL.

Kam Chancellor is who he reminds me of. Similar measurables.

Would seem to fit as an OLB in an NFL 3-4.
