I hold out hope that Elam has a good game before he graduates let alone this bowl game. Its kinda been a kick to the balls that a huge mofo like him hasn't been a game changer.....ever. Not even one game.
Maybe its just a matter of time. Idk time is running thin.

You can pretty much hang our home win against Spurrier (SC) a couple of years ago on the fact that he abandoned the run in the second half due to Matt clogging up the middle.

Think a lot of folks are selling him short. It takes time to transform a body like his. Hopefully the new competition ups his training and effort level. Could be a real difference maker if he puts it all together!

Elam is just big, Poe is big, fast and strong. Poe explodes out of a stance, Elam labors out of it. Elam has zero athletic ability, could he work harder and be a better player, sure. He had a very limited ceiling and a whole lot of people missed it not just our coaches.

I was just wondering why there had been no Matt Elam threads during this bowl prep period. Then this appeared. People get upset if you bring back old threads. But, rehashing redundant old discussions is commonplace here. One thing J Wills' family will never have to worry about.

Poe at 350 pounds runs a 4.9 Forty...Truly a freakish athlete.

He was a true freshman that season. Seems hard to believe he would have had that much effect on Spurriers play calling.

My point was never that Elam was as athletic as Poe or that he could impact a game on the defensive line like Poe but simply possibly he could get on the field as an offensive gimmick.
