Republicans this year flipped nine state legislative chambers: the Colorado Senate; Maine Senate; Minnesota House; Nevada Senate and Assembly; New Hampshire House; New Mexico House and West Virginia House and Senate.

Racism. Fear mongering. People hate obama and have been fearful for 8 years that his policies will infiltrate state government if they don't shut him down with big ol bad GOP legislators.

So 8 of those 9 states voted BO in the POTUS election but flipped their statehouses because they also hate him and are racist?

I wish Jones would stop picking fights with Bevin. UK had been losing the political battle in KY lately regarding university and athletic support. We need Bevin's support.

When things are so skewed to the right, as they are in our state and in the South generally, anyone to the left seems like a bleeding heart liberal. In the majority of cases, those on the left that get elected are center to center-left......(as opposed to far left, bleeding heart San Fran Dems).
KY politics are so skewed right that they only control the KY House, 2/6 statewide offices & the largest city/county. Pubs win governor 2nd time in 50 years & this is the reaction you get from Dems. LMAO.

Anyone opposing a black anything is immediately hit with the racism word. It's nothing but a Pavlovian reaction. It's become meaningless.

Who wins national elections in KY? (Not Dems). Trey Grayson - would have made a fine US Senator but he lost to Rand Paul, a tea party darling at the time.

Trey was considered a "RINO" by many - especially those who voted for Rand. Trey lost his home turf in NKY for instance (Kenton Co, and also Boone and Campbell) b/c he wasn't "conservative enough". That's what I mean when I say things are skewed to the right.

I also think in the South (AL, MS, GA, SC) in general (not necessarily KY) is very far right compared to the rest of the country.

I say this as a political observer, not as a Dem or a Rep.

Last I checked KY Rep Party also controls the Governorship, two US Senators and most of the US Reps. Andy Barr beat chandler 4 years ago, for instance...think a Dem gets that spot back? I don't.

They talk about about him when he gets into politics because what he says is dumb. We shouldn't give credibility to his insane political views just because he runs a UK based sports talk show. I can agree with him on UK sports but politically I'd rather vote for a political novice like Ryan Lemond than someone that is basically wrong about everything.

And we don't need progressive voices for Kentucky. It's the progressives that dug the hole that Bevin is trying to dig out of.

Jones needs to STFU on this one. The amount of money dumped into UK is absurd for the value undergrad students get out of that place. They need to learn how to be more efficient.

Surely you're not that ignorant.

I see what you're saying (even if I don't think it's entirely true), but prepared to be crucified.

Many people don't dislike Obama solely based on race, BUT I've never once heard "That damn honky in the White House" from anyone ever. I can't say the same for "That damn n_____ in the White House." I've heard that at least weekly for the last eight years either in public or from some of my awful relatives whose entire wardrobe consists of T-shirts without sleeves and all camo everything.

I liken Obama to Tubby. Yes, some people didn't like Tubby simply because he was black. But, everyone who didn't like Tubby can't be lumped in with the first group. That would be an inaccurate presumption.
