Matt Jones says he's 90% confident Shannon Dawson won't be our OC next year.

Guess Jones found that nut...he just isn't much into football.....and has said as much in the past.

We get to see what direction Stoops heads. Years of recruiting for a passing offense, smallish running backs, just now getting the O-line recruiting upgraded.....

Gonna likely be year five before we see anything on the field. Unless a fire gets lit under some other coaches and players.

Everybody is available.

Yes, and most of them are salivating for the chance to come here and work for a year under Stoops------seems like that is about all some of our fans want to keep them around.

How about Saban for OC, wait isn't he a DC, then fire whoever that is. And worst case you know we don't have a special teams coach, bring him in for that, and if we don't have room for him without firing someone make him special assistant to the water boy but let him mostly hang around special teams.

Wouldn't that make news and let everyone know we are serious, $10,000,000 for a special teams coach, but then I doubt if you could get him for any position for anything like that.

No idea where the overwhelming belief has come from that Stoops was overly interfering in play calls and that's where our offensive issues came from.

Because it simply isn't the case. After the Vandy game Stoops definitely took a more active role in dictating we run power sets in short yardage situations. And rightfully so after the miserable play calling in that game from Dawson. Ball on the one foot line and run from the shotgun...
Bottom line is Dawson was a very bad play caller with no previous experience at it and it showed. I for one like the idea of moving on from him

Never said that or really believe that. Other than probably an occasional overturn from Stoops on a play here or there, I think Dawson had the choice. However, philosophically Dawson and Stoops are just both cut from a different cloth. I think that probably lead to some head butting during game planning and even recruiting. I think that's why UK is making the change. I'm surprised. It will be tough to find a competent guy to take over as OC in my opinion.

Easily my top pick of realistic choices would be Eddie Gran at UC. He fits everything we need in an experienced offensive coordinator who is not afraid to throw the ball but also use an effective run game. He has almost 30 years of coaching experience including 15 years in the SEC with stops at Auburn, Tennessee and Ole Miss. He set UC's offensive record in 2013 averaging over 470 yards per game. Stoops also would be very familiar with him as he was the associate head coach, rb coach and special teams coordinator at Florida State from 2010-2012. He currently makes $350,000 at UC ($200k less than Dawson at UK) so UK can easily offer him ~600k. Would be a home run hire!!!

Mark Mangino
James Coley
Eddie Gran
Tyson Helton (WKU)

Any of these guys would be a home run although I'd like to see Helton's offense next year without Doughty at QB.
