I can agree with this . I wonder why people have Hurt playing at the small forward spot imo he’s the prototypical stretch four.

I would think K is going to utilize him as a stretch 4 a la Ryan Kelly. It times you need size you could play him at the 3 with having 2 of bolden, javin, and Carey in the game.

Lo

No question....Hurt's dad was quoted as saying K could see Matthew being our leading scorer, and getting lion's share of minutes....

OFC
He’ll have plenty chances to become the leading scorer because I don’t think we have one player returning that averaged more then eight points a game.

Very nice. man, his shot is quick and smooth. Also seems to have a real good feel for the game. Looks like one of those crafty scorers who just gets it done. Skinnier Larry Bird

Think they are assuming that so you have a frontcourt of Hurt/Carey/Bolden or Hurt/Javin/Carey. I agree he is more of a stretch 4 and would help spacing if he were deployed that way. Real concerns with him being able to defend the 3 in college and don’t see any way he can at the next level. Think there are still concerns with him even guarding the 4.

Hurt's starting. Coach K didn't put in all the time he did personally recruiting Hurt for him to come off the bench.

Carey and Jones are the other two locks to start. I'd say I'd bet anything on it but I don't think it's even remotely a question frankly.

I see where you’re coming from on Hurt. I think we can all agree that Hurt will log plenty of PT at the end of the day and will get “starter minutes” regardless.

Since I just can’t see Hurt starting at the 3, it will really come down to he or Ques starting the game out. At that point, you’re trading defense for offense. A healthy senior Ques who provides a better defensive presence and is most likely a better pick and roll defender could work pretty decent alongside Carey (has some work to do on his D as well). He will have more value communicating in the paint with Carey, or at least he should. Hurt instant offense after the first TV timeout. Perfectly happy being wrong but just how I see it (heck it’s all good to me either way and is fun to speculate) - at least at the start of the season. Dunno, maybe my view is tainted because of Ques constantly being injured and wanting him to succeed so bad. If he leaves, no question Hurt/Carey at the 4/5.

^ Agree about Marques. I've always been a big fan and I want him to do well, particularly given the setbacks he's had. I think about how far he came just last year, from the Canada trip to, say, the middle of the season... or before he got hurt near the end of the season.

Michael Hurt (Matthew’s brother) told one of the reporters where I work that he has no intentions of following Matthew to Duke. He said he will play his senior year at Minnesota.

Great get. I feel better and better about next year's team. With Hurt's skill set he is probably one and done. We should be very solid next year and perhaps exceed expectations.

Bout to be some butt hurt KY fans if so. We know how much their recruiting and draft day championships mean to them.

UK would liked to have had MH to free up a wing to play 2G, but most felt that ship had sailed. (still need a 4th G) The biggest need is beef inside ala Blackshear or a big reclass, where the main emphasis has been recently

I was just looking at USA Today's Chosen 25. They have Carey 5th, Hurt 8th, Moore 22nd and Boogie 25th. Stanley is 19th I think. Anthony is #1. If we get Stanley that is 5 of the top 25, certainly comparable with past great Duke recruiting classes. Wow.

What's going on man? Hope as every day passes, you're feeling better.

Thanks for asking. The casts come off Wednesday and I've rarely looked forward to anything as much as I am that. I'm not sure what's next, but according to the world wide web, I'll be in physical therapy and possibly walking boots. The pain is pretty much gone now too, so that's encouraging.

Edit: left out a word

I'm really glad he's in the fold... but I wish he had a different name. Already I've startled a few times when I've seen "Duke" and "Hurt" in the same headline. Very triggering!

It’s Almost like you it’s coming. Just a matter of who, when, and for how long

He broke his foot standing up from the mic after he committed to Duke.
