Sophomore actually. The kid is a really good player but I'm not sure he's gotten any better since his 8th grade year. No joke. He's been carrying a big body around and playing varsity since he was a 7th grader and has had some knee issues I think with tendinitis. To me he looks better than Mike Miller from Mitchell SD did as a soph but Miller was quicker and more explosive. Mors is more of a power forward body and I'm not sure if he'll be quick enough to guard some of the athletes in the upper tier of college. Really good ball handling skills. Reasonably good shooter but streaky. Physically he can bang with anybody. BTW. Miles is friends with his grandpa. I haven't gotten to see him a bunch, but my impression is that he really had reached a high level of play by 8th grade. The couple of times I saw him as a 7th grader I saw him do things that most high schoolers wouldn't do defensively. It was shocking to see. He was such a good player as an 8th grader and so physically developed that he didn't have much room to improve his skills. Your hope was that he would grow to be 6-9 to 6-10 and I don't think he'll get there to kind of fit his athleticism. The kid is definitely bringing a lot of coaches to Yankton games. I don't know if it was for just him or one of the Minnesota kids but Bill Self was watching him a week ago. He sure brings a lot of attention in town here to the Basketball program. I think its crazy to say he hasn't gotten any better since 8th grade.
That tends to happen to girls especially. If they're really good in jr high, they tend to hit their peak by sophomore year. Then you have the ones that just keep getting better. Some of that is work related.I haven't gotten to see him a bunch, but my impression is that he really had reached a high level of play by 8th grade. The notion that Matt has not improved over the course of the past two years is ridiculous, a complete joke.Sophomore actually. The kid is a really good player but I'm not sure he's gotten any better since his 8th grade year. No joke. .
Sorry to step on your toes but its a fact that he has not improved like you would expect a normal kid to improve from 8th grade to his sophomore year. The problem is he was bumping up against his ceiling early on. The kid was one of the best players in the state AS AN EIGHTH GRADER. You would hope as he continues to age that he would become more athletic and maybe grow a couple of inches. Right now the thing I would like to see out of him is more consistency shooting the ball. He could walk in and play today for the Huskers at his size but he wouldn't be a great defensive player yet IMO.The notion that Matt has not improved over the course of the past two years is ridiculous, a complete joke.
Miles may enter the transfer portal. He's only a sophomore. And I doubt Miles will still be the coach here in 2021.
