This film should be preserved in time capsules. A truly great piece of American cinema accompanied by the greatest soundtrack in history.

This topic is funny cause Maximum Overdrive isn't a very good movie at all. In fact, I would say it's a terrible movie! I think the OP is being sarcastic.

The book was way better.
This is the case 99% of the time with any book.Which was always the case when it comes to King. The Shining was the only movie that really delivered. The rest were somehow garbage compared to the books.

Is Matt8568 the same poster who wanted crowd funding to get his wife pregnant because his fish couldn't swim?

The Shining didn't really follow the book that literally at all. One of the reasons why it did so well. The made-for-tv remake was more true to the book. Shawshank says hello.
Of course, the extra details in the book were good, but the movie's ending was better.
I loved that Stephen King movie where Jack Tripper and Judge Harry Stone fought an evil clown.
I read 1000 pages of the Stand. Then quit. Only book Ive ever done that with. It was garbage. I know people love King, but think its crap.

"It" also starred Venus Flytrap (WKRP), John Boy Walton and Dr. Frank N Furter (Rocky Horror) in addition to those already mentioned. Interesting casting to say the least.

I used to read a lot of King but then I got started reading this guy named Richard Bachman, I think it was. Anyway, much better style, not as wordy.
