Maybe this is a dumb question, but why is Deon getting so much pub.?

I mean come on you get rid of everyone on the team and load up with transfers and somehow that puts you on a path to the playoff. I'm betting he's gone before he has a winning season at CU. We're getting ready to get this season started and every CFB website I go to I have to look at Coach Prime and he hasn't won a game! I lost all respect for him when he poured a drink over Tim McCarver's head, and he's lucky Tim wasn't 25 years younger!

Because he is prime time. I think what he has done will work much better than people give him credit. Not saying they are playoff bound but I give him 4-6 wins this year.

I don’t think anyone has said they are on track for the playoff. Certainly not this season. And the transfer stuff is not popular, but he didn’t run off players that were winning games. I think most people would agree there is much more talent there this season than last season. It’s not popular, but he did what he needed to do. The criticism is more from coaches that would do the same thing if they could, but can’t. Not too many stud recruits dying to play for a 2-win team.

But this is what Deion does and why he got hired. Did you ever pay attention to Jackson State, or know the coach at Jackson State before he came? Somehow it seems like every Jackson State game is on TV. Heck, College Gameday was there last season.

Deion is the kind of personality College Football Media drools over. Deion knows what he’s doing. It’s all intentional. There is a great interview with him talking about Prime Time. Said all his college teammates had black books full of girls phone #’s. He looked at the top paid NFL players and noticed DBs were at the bottom. So he got a black book and started writing down these legendary quotes he’d say when he had the opportunity. To this day, most of the stuff we hear from him are things he’s made up years ago and waited for the time to say stuff. Gotta give the guy some credit…he’s an innovator.

He's a publicity hog!
Which makes the school and himself money. Nothing wrong with that. I don’t get the uproar over getting rid of players. He was hired to do a job and that was improve the team. Can’t do that with current losers on the roster. It’s the nature of the beast, again I don’t see the problem.

They ran a promo for Colorado's first game last night and it all about a Deion.

And not the TEAM, exactly my point - who wants to play for a coach who dumped most of the roster and makes the program all about himself? Contrast that with the Beamer TEAM culture!

When SOS came here, he was obviously the main story line, but that was because he was already a HOF-worthy college coach with multiple SEC titles and a national title to his credit. Deion really hasn't done anything in coaching.

Maybe he'll turn out to be great, but there's no real reason for the hype except his name. He hasn't done anything in coaching to warrant the hype.

Looks like Deion is playing the race card really well., We will see what kind of a coach he is playing higher level competition.

At this point in time, he is a personality - not a coach!

I think that's the point. He's trying to do something nobody's ever done before.

Superstar player who did it all (football and baseball at a high level) becomes a head coach late in life after having never coached in college or the pros before. He does it at a bad Jackson State program that hadn't had a winning record since 2013. He goes from consistent losing seasons before his arrival to 11-2 and 12-1, while recruiting at a level nobody's seen at HBCUs in decades.

Now he's at Colorado, another program without a winning tradition since the 90s. He revamps the entire roster in a way that's never been done before. How will this play out? Nobody knows. It could be a flaming disaster or an incredible success. Either way, it's going to be interesting.

Deion has a cult of personality almost. It's easy to see why there's so much interest.

I get what he did at JSU, but it's much easier there. He brought his QB son with him and got another 5* recruit to come there b/c he's Deion. At that level, you can flip the script with a couple big-time players. I just don't think it's nearly as easy at the P5 level. You're not going to completely turn things around with one or two players. Maybe he'll prove me wrong. I don't like much of his tactics, but I like some of his old-school philosophy in dealing with players.

Right. Maybe he does great things at Colorado and maybe he doesn't. Only time will tell, but I think we're all curious to see how it turns out. That curiosity explains the publicity.

I think college football needs some interesting personalities. With Spurrier retired and guys like Leach and Bowden passed on, I think a larger than life personality like Deion will naturally gain a lot of publicity for his program.

Oh no doubt about that. I'm not expecting him to succeed at Colorado, but you can see why there's so much interest in how his tenure plays out.

I will certainly be checking to see how they fare. Especially week 2 when they match up with a bad Nebraska.

Ever see him play football and baseball?? Same reason we got so much pub with Holtz and SOS. All are outspoken and strong personalities. Media loves it.

It’s his body of work to those too young to remember…..u could say he was the cock of the walk and he walked it……..take a look at his accomplishments at every level.
I happened to be at moou that misty sept day, not too long after the fake punt most have seen highlights of……..#2 comes on the field pointing his finger, telling the rednecks what he’s about to do…..
(For yer viewing pleasure),

Oh, as far as Timmy, he walked in-on a celebration.

Say what you want but there is no doubt that his mass exodus and hitting the portal has greatly improved the talent and play of this team.

(I know it’s a run on sentence. I’m shooting doves no time for grammar)

He stood at the bottom of tater hill pre-game and told the taters to come on down and get it. He then delivered to back it up. Made me a Sanders fan for life. I’m telling you the takers went home heart broken.

Doesn’t change my opinion of him, but it’s definitely the story of the day!
