maybe this is the best thing that could have happened to us going into week 9 and 10.
I think we win today and we got a little humble pie

Haven't we already had our share of humble pie?? How many crappy teams push us to the 4th quarter? I don't think this is a case of being too confident, but rather a) a really beat up offensive line and team in general and b) a team that maybe just isn't elite. It's still improvement over last year.

There is improvement, but Nebraska is far from being an elite team. Far, far from it.

Or maybe its C) Team that sucks in the first half because Langsdorf isnt very adjustable at play calling.

I don't think he's called a very good game, but, what plays can you call when the worst rush D in the country is in your backfield right after the snap? I don't know what that play call is, but if you know it, you better get paid a mil a year and be on the sideline.

Well you can pull the TE to block, use a dang fullback more, let Tommy run, screens, etc. There are lots of plays that counter defensive line penetration.

Well, apparently most coaches on other sidelines figured it out, but ours can't.

It seems like the cumulative injury to the offensive line is hurting their communication.

Also we need to do some things to shake the defense loose. They haven't run many screens or quick hits. Letting purdue pin their ears back.

Nice to see all of the Riley haters haven't waited until we lose to come out of the woodwork. We may have the most insecure fan base ever. Nobody would guess that we are 6-0 so far by reading the board at times.
Not a Riley hater myself, the turn around this year has been great. BuT unless you are a paid spokesman for Langsdorf you have to admit that the offensive playcalling has been flat in the first half of every game this year.

Shovel pass, quick pitch, middle screen, not an OC, but if we had one he should be able to counter some of what is happening!

I have been pretty pleased with Langsdorf's play calling overall. If you want to cherry pick plays here and there that were bad calls, that's fine. I don't think there is a play caller in the country you couldn't do that with. Well, except the armchair QB's here. They would call a perfect game.

Well I am saying his first half playing calling has been pedestrian all year. 4 times this year we have only scored 10 points in the first half, twice we did 14, and once it was 17. We cant expect to win against Wiscy or OSU with that sort of production, well maybe Wiscy.

Riley historically has struggled against teams that are equal or worse in talent than his teams. His teams have too many penalties and turnovers historically to beat every team on their schedule. That being said Riley is unusually good against team with more or much talent. He rarely gets blown out , which means the pressure will rest on the team that expects to win. Bo was the exact opposite type of coach, he only won 10% of his games he played against top 25 teams, but was lights out against inferior opponents, and often won with blowouts. I guess we get to see what we prefer. Bo never went 11-1 in a 12 game span, with a 2-1 record against top 25 teams in the span.

Timing is everything... should have waited to post this comment. penn state scored 7 in the first half against Ohio State. How did they win with that kind of production? ;)

Shovel pass is a glorified run play. Besides, running between the tackles where we were getting whipped big time and getting slammed wasn't really accomplishing a lot. Besides the original poster didn't say "what run plays" would you run, he asked what plays would you run.

I like Langsdorf. I am sure he has considered all offensive play calling options. I am sure he has solid coaching reasons for calling the plays he does. And I AM SURE HE KNOWS MORE THAN I DO.
We beat Purdue. We are 7-0. On to Wisconsin.
