This new team has some serious size. It might be a good year if we can score consistently. I know, it’s way too early to get excited but need a strong non-conference run to get that ball rolling.

I have only seen them play NCAT, but they hit FTs and 3s and played well on the inside. They look disciplined and well coached. I think guard play is the key to success this year.

They certainly looked a lot better than last year's disastrous train wreck of a team, but I'm tampering my optimism until we play someone with a pulse. We should be at least 12-1 when we enter league play.

I would love to be 12-1 but 11-2 or 10-3 is more realistic. We have Butler, Northwestern, Va Tech and Clemson before conference play. This game against Southern Miss will be a good gauge for this team. Southern Miss should be a 10-12 point win.

If we are actually good, the only one of those games that should be a contest is Clemson. Butler, NW and Va Tech were all pretty bad last year.

So were we. This ain’t last year.

lol...we're already pre-emptively explaining potential losses.

Anyway, it's just reality. If we're good, we'll be 12-1 or better before entering conference play. Clemson is the only team of consequence we play.

Now, it may very well be the other teams mentioned are vastly improved and that we are not as good as we hope after 1 game. So maybe we are more like 10-3. But we were 10-3 going into conference play last year and that didn't bode well for us.

IF we are good, we'll take care of business in our non-conference schedule. That's how it works. That's how it's designed. The non-con schedule is intended to beef up our record with a bunch of easy wins.

Seriously, I went in excited to see Eli Ellis and not expecting what else I saw. Kapic from Austria was particularly impressive and already looks like an nba guy. Ball movement among everyone was crisp for the most part, although we let ourselves get lazy a time or two, Stude in particular. On the downside wasn’t overly impressed with our seven footers in this game but that was probably in comparison to our other guys. The 23 team came out draining shots too, a rarity around here, and did pretty decent. Jury’s still out of course but this team has a look to it, a spark; a confidence. Paris was much more involved and animated than last year as well/

But can they hit from the free throw line?
Probably not. The chicken curse for foul shooting has been around since I was a kid. Even the women’s team struggles with that. I do think we have more three-point shooters now, so we have that. I’ve given up on foul shots

That's a really interesting assertion after one game. Shocking assertion, actually.
Think back through those teams. I’d say that was the easiest assertion I’ve ever made.. This is what his fourth year and we’ve had one good team. This is a team with many good basketball players, not one good player and support staff.. So go watch them play and then tell me that’s really shocking.

lol…want to make a bet we win more than 12 games this year?

15-21 from free throw line, 71.4 percent. Similar number for A&T; how refreshing to see an evenly called game.

Contrast that to 12-15, 80 percent, versus 19-30 for NC State in that game. Interesting.

When NCAT had Doumbia at the line, they mentioned he played for Frank at UMASS. He then proceeded to miss 2 FT’s. There was nothing less shocking in that game than that.

Considering the amount of guys that we have that have range generally leads to better FT %.

my main question is, do we have that ONE guy we can give the rock to and get that bucket when needed.

Never mind. My reading comprehension is really poor lol

Somehow I read it as saying most talented since BJ McKie, which is a ridiculous assertion.

Let me go back and delete that post.

Maybe the best overall talent since the BJ Mack team. Top to bottom all our team can play.
Just so I understand, you're saying this is the most talented team we've had in the last 2 years? Or, to put it another way, it's more talented than last year's team.

2nd most in LP’s 4……thus the confidence in my “assertion”…more talented top to bottom than his first team and last year.

see the truth in a tongue in cheek comment….

I think this team will be better than many want to think. But I thought football would be good so who knows
