This is one of those games where Lamont better play bigger boys. That short lineup is killing him.

One of the few things I know about basketball is that despite the hard for the 3 pointer the last 20 years, there’s no replacement for solid inside guys getting it done in the paint.

Very winnable game….just cant play the 6’5”; 6’5”; 6’8”; Plus 2 guards around 6’ and get pounded on the boards.

Played the two 7 footers, mongolian, ellis and meechie in first half and I cut the lead to two. Was it stopped but from banging inside and we were getting rebounds. The small lineup gets us killed because they can’t get a rebound and they get dog inside. I don’t get why he gets so stubborn.

I’m kind of torn on Lamar’s coaching philosophy right now. It looks like he’s coaching to make a point with the players, and I get that for growth purposes, but the other side of me wishes he’s just coach to win the dimm game Bruce Pearl style.

I wasn’t able to watch the game yesterday, but biggest concern was our post/rebounding ability.
Obviously, Butler exposed that.
We are playing 12 guys with many different lineups. Frank was terrible about, in what you referenced as making a point with lineups in the floor at the detriment of winning the game.
I don’t think Lamont is like that and hope it’s more about solidifying which lineups are going to give us the best chance to win any given night, especially in league play.

I caught just a minute of his press conference and he was asked why Grant Polk didn’t get minutes in the second half and Lamar said something about Polk not boxing out to his liking at the end of the first half. When we’re struggling like we were from the 3 line that’s not a guy to be sitting to make a point, I’m sorry. Win the game, coach in practice.

Yea that doesn’t make much sense. That aspect really wore thin after a while with Martin. Need to be able to see how guys respond to coaching within the game.
