Does anyone know what’s going on here? Did something happen? I was at the SJR and Naz games and don’t recall any incidents.

Lord your text thread title was very misleading! 😂. This has always been the case. Maybe with the large Marist co-ed crowd coming it's a reminder. The only difference from past rules was ticket sales will cease the night before so maybe no day of sales?

Last week some students from other schools were not allowed admittance and tried jumping fences and were stopped and crying foul, but nothing major.

The GoFan app ONLY requirement for ticket purchase is extremely discriminatory here and at other sites. Being deep in to senior citizen status, not owning a smartphone and going to games solo is a bad combination that is restricting me and surely some others that may be down to our last games in-person!! Free senior citizen admission is not necessarily widespread as well as the cash option, nor is either always communicated properly to the public.

I do know at MC they are very accommodating to seniors or anyone who is unable to navigate the app or doesn't have a the tech to go on the site. I'm sure most schools are the same. Don't let this prevent you from going to games, your far from alone with this concern.

LWE just posted a very similar statement regarding policy change at their home games. Students of the opposing school for that game only.
We all are where we are as a society from TSA wanding and searches at Rich Township for all to no student from Crete Monee without a parent at Thornwood. South suburbs are falling in line with GoFan as the main go to. Ironically Kankakee was a cash only entrance policy but also very senior citizen friendly. Enjoy the games all.

How would the home team know if a kid is from LWC or from Wheaton South? They asking for opposing student IDs at gate?
Yes. Need to show ID. And it's been that way for a few years. Many other CCL schools are the same or similar, now how well they enforce it I can't say.

I know a few years ago Marian Catholic played at Thornwood & some kids from another school attacked a female Thornwood fan. Rich South I know when the area changed when you seen an influx of people from in the city many moved out there. There started being problems. They had a light up Star on the scoreboard that was shot up by some kids after 1am. And fights between incoming rival gang members caused them to put a separate fence to where when you paid for a ticket you had to pick a side to sit on & couldn’t go from one side to another. They’ve also had issues there with students & people in the area to where they had to stop playing night football & the mayor of RP said they couldn’t control the unruly crowds. Similar at RC. It upsets me thinking about all this bc these schools were schools I played against & watched all these years. They weren’t perfect but close & now with the areas changed I hear horror stories. A few years back a huge brawl in the stands happened at Shepard after a game & the state police were called in. The kid getting executed after a Hillcrest game in front of the school. And I was there when they hosted Argo & after the game shots were fired & they had to bring in police both state & from surrounding areas to stop cars & look for the culprit. Many people didn’t get out of there for awhile & lucky I was already on my way back walking to Midlothian where I was staying with family.

But 5 idiot fans of LWE have brought down the hammer. The memories of your and my experiences drew minimal exposure Anon. There will be more to report I am sure as the season moves on unfortunately. The mold has been set.

This is happening at more and more schools. Students from opposing schools show up simply to do cause issues. Many times, it involves filming the situations, and in the end ruins the experience for the fans that do want to be there to watch. I've seen it at multiple schools in the suburbs, it is not a city thing.

Someone commented above about GoFan. That is just stupid. I saw an older gentleman trying to attend a game and initially he was turned away. Luckily I knew a cop who was at the gate, and i told him to tell their administration and he was immediately let in free of charge.

You must remember that the people working the gate often are not administration. They are likely low level staff who love to say no to people because they never get to do that in their job. If you find the right person to talk to, usually they will be reasonable.

That is pretty sweeping statement right there, geez. Just last week saw a lady working the gate and a women had bought a ticket for the incorrect game. She let her in no questions asked.

I'm becoming a grumpy old man and maybe I'm jaded by some personal interactions. My apologies if offended.

I hate what gofan has become to these events. Theres a guy and his disabled son who attend all the Bolingbrook basketball games that (I believe) was on twitter complaining he unable to get tix to the sold out game against Benet because they were only being sold on GF and they were sold out immediately which means they never went on sale. Theres maybe 10 people that I see at all the basketball and football games and they are two of them. They deserve to be able to get tix. Luckily for me I had the wherewithal to speak with the AD immediately after the prior game against NV to be sure to get admission.

But I get the season pass, only have to use GF at away games and I try to use cash if possible.
