MaxPreps offers some insight I didn't have into SJR, the Caravan's opponent in Week 2.

"The MaxPreps Game of the Week in Week Six heads to New Jersey on Friday, Sept. 25, when St. Joseph Regional (Montvale) visits Don Bosco Prep (Ramsey) in a rivalry matchup. The programs, which have combined for 35 state titles, met in last season's Non-Public A championship as St. Joseph Regional pulled out a 24-21 victory over Don Bosco Prep. The series between Bergen County powers is tied at 4-4 since 2020 while Don Bosco Prep holds a 16-10 edge in the MaxPreps era."

With the talent MC has - especially on D- there's no way this team is not running the table. They already have DB to Michigan, another DB to South Dakota State (pre-season 2 in FCS), LB to Notre Dame, another LB with FBS offers, Graham to Wisconsin, DT Tucker with his pick of anywhere, another DT with FCS and MAC offers and another DE with FBS-FCS offers. I mean c'mon that is insane. And when you look at O you got an OL committed to PU, a WR to Michigan, another WR with top FBS offers, a RB to FCS Lindenwood who after this season will get MAC offers at a minimum. They are so stacked and well coached, I think if they stay healthy that they run the table. Toughest game in my opinion might be at Rice.

ESL, if they're motivated and fired up, can put this thread to rest week 1. But it seems noone has faith in the Flyers to get the job done. Its not too many times they come in the underdogs, will this put a chip on their collective shoulders?

I remember back in 2010 when this message board provided Simeon the bulletin board material they needed to fire them up to spring the upset heard round the world.

All I have seen out there is MC to score 7 points total and Flyers running clock on MC.

Upset heard around the world is a bit excessive and after the smoke cleared from the season it really wasn't that much of an upset at all. MC finished 11-3 and while they did have a good playoff run they were beaten handily by Maine South 28-7 in the title game....It was a good MC but not consistered a great one and many were surprised they made it as far as they did especially after the Simeon loss and getting beaten badly by Rita that year. Simeon on the other hand was a great team led by QB Robert Gregory. They were ranked as high as #3 that year and went undefeated until. 3 point loss to Lake Zurich in the semifinals who lost to WWS in the Finals in a tight game....so it may have been considered an upset when it happened but as the season completed it really wasn't. Not one MC starter on that team went D1.

Look at 2010....Maine South beating MC badly. WWS and LZ in the other title game....Back when Suburban schools ruled....

Ah yes, the days where suburban publics ruled... when a not great MC made the 8A championship game. I do agree that 8A was down that year though. WWS put a clock on MS in week 1 in Wheaton in a game I was at, I have no doubt MS improved throughout the season. That Simeon offense was one of the most prolific I have seen in IL excluding nobody, that game at Soldier Field was eye opening (I actually miss going to the Pre-Season Prep Bowl). As for Simeon they slept walk through the 1st 3.5 quarters against LZ and ran out of time to complete a late comeback, was at that one too. Another game I was at was the round 1 prolific beating MC put on Bailey & Co at Gately at like 3PM, then swung around to NN @ Marist. There was definitely P5 talent on that MC team, matter of fact I recall there being a UofI signee (DL i think) that went and told Beckman that they need to get Bailey.

All that to say it was entertaining to see it explicitly stated that comments from here impacted the outcome of the game. Ever since then gotta post wisely 😂

"IF" is a powerful word!!! Nothing said by the Mt Carmel supporters will help EStL against the Mighty Caravan. Either they are hunting or they will be hunted and the score, at the end, will show who the Flyers are!~~~ There will be no excuses, no injuries and no ********... Just good ole football! I just hope no one gets hurt!~

Mike Clark says QB1 is Startz

Hoping that no one gets hurt, but MC has a tough schedule, especially its first two games, so having options at QB may prove to be an advantage if Startz gets a little banged up. The first two games will set the tone for what I expect to be a rough and tumble season. MC's bench, always a strength, has depth at almost every position, which will help it power through the season.

I remember the 3pm game vs The Brook that year. Another thing I won't miss about Gately. You most certainly got your revenge on MC the next year.

I stand corrected we did have DT Vontrell Williams on the team that went to U of I and Chris Sujka at QB who played baseball at Indiana and was roomates/teammates with Kyle Schwarber. Banks, Greer, and Sophomore Draco Smith were solid RBs but all in all very good but not dominant team.

I remember Irish Glory 88 just having a field day before the HF/MC semifinal.
