I remember noticing him when they played ESL in the 1st round. He didnt do much, but he might look like a completely different player with better weapons around him.
Agreed. If the incoming SR and incoming JR decide to stay I think they give this kid a run for his money imo. But Marist and Laurence make sense for one of them.

Tough break for next guys up. Believe this is 3 schools for this young lad.
He transferred there which is his right but that doesn't mean tough break for the QBs already there. Average stats. An opportunity will be given but he's not walking into any starting job. If it was Trae Taylor different story but nobody really has heard of him and the ones who have don't seem very impressed. There have been people that transferred into MC that never saw the field. May the best QB win.

His choice, yes. But don’t act like Jordan didn’t encourage it. Absolutely stacked QB room. What this means, is incoming soph being primed for 2 year starter. I can see Incoming Sr staying and battling, Imo he wins and beats out transfer. Incoming jr, sounds like they want him on defense and I would imagine he transfers out.

Why would he encourage an average QB that nobody had really heard of? They won't steer away a tuition but this kid would probably be 4th behind the current Freshman. Learn those signals to call in from the sideline. Whoever wins the job will have the States best receiving corps with Burrell, Thorton and Sims.

The Google machine shows two Hudl profiles. Highlights from both PE and lower levels at MS. Would have been stuck behind Purcell for two years.

Who says he's average? Maybe he just wasn't in the best situation. By saying he's not good enough you're implying your messiah, Lynch, can't evaluate a QB. It's all about skills and potential.

You think Sorsby, the Cincy QB, is worth the $5-$6 mil Texas Tech is giving him to transfer based on what he did at Cincy.

If he ends up being great and our.....messiah was it? can work with him then great, all the best for MC. But my response to the initial poster who said "Tough break on the Jr and Soph QB" was that this QB just isn't going to be handed to keys the car. They have 3 very good QBs in the building so if this young man wants to come in and compete then by all means, may the best QB win, but he's not being handed anything. He started at Maine South, lost out on that job to Purcell, then went to Plainfield East and now is at MC.

And I don't think Sorsby is worth that at all but they are being bankrolled by the real life Landman! Black Gold, Texas Tea!

That's obviously the fair and objective way to look at it, now if only the world worked that way. No clue if the kid will start or not, but I highly doubt Lynch or anyone from MC sold him on transferring by saying, hey you want to transfer schools just for a tryout where you may end up 3rd on the depth chart.

I don't think he said "We really need a QB, I'm glad your here" I'm certain he was honest and said it will be a competition. In this players defense I don't think he came into this situation not thinking MC didnt have excellent options at QB and maybe he wants the experience, I have no idea. In the decades I've followed MC every QB who has started on Varsity has been someone who came there as Freshman. Only one I can think that came in as a transfer was Aaron Marshall in 2000 and he didn't start until the playoffs. So basically if you are transferring to MC to be the QB, expect it to be a dogfight.

Do you know how recruiting works? Whoever reached out to this kid absolutely played to his ego and pumped him up as the next big thing and talked about all the D1 kids that come out of MC.

Times have changed since yesteryear. Developing in a program and biding your time until it's your turn are gone.

Well we shall see. My early thought, from knowing who they have in the building already, is that he will be wearing a red hat and calling in signals. If I'm wrong, I will man up and admit it and eat my slice of crow pie.

Yeah but who’s going to still be in that building come summer camp is now a question. Can’t say it won’t be. This isn’t college, these kids don’t get a 5th year or waivers approved.
It’ll be a two man competition. Obviously Elliot stays, the realm is his after next year. Soph starter to Marist, I believe his family has ties to rice but Q promised 4yr starter to Holcomb dad

Soph starter family is about MC as MC gets, at least on the Dads side. Numerous cousins at the school, one was a Captain on this years team, and they are involved at MC. Would be hard on him to leave but we shall see. Stay tuned.

I'll go on the record right now, that kid going to BR will not be the starter as a Freshman. I don't care what barstool rumor says what Q promised. A true Freshman starting in the CCL Blue is a recipe for disaster. McCarthy didn't even start as a Freshman and they weren't even in the Blue. This is baring an injury of course. Why would the junior stay if this rumor was true. It won't happen....again if I'm wrong, feel free to call me out. He's a boy going up against young men who have had 4 years in the weight room. He will be a deer in headlights.

If the Plainfield East kid is not the starter heading into August, he will be at another school week one.

If I were to weigh in and not say anything negative about anyone

If you look at the numbers, Burrell numbers alone are neck and neck with the new kid

this could be a case of wishful thinking more than someone being recruited

and there is nothing wrong with taking a chance especially when you are trying for greatness

What do you mean by the new kids numbers are neck and neck with Burrells? New player is a QB.

And I 100% agree that there is nothing wrong with coming in and competing for a spot and seeking greatness. It's a great work ethic. My issue is with people thinking this kid is going to come in and take over the QB spot like he's Jonas Williams. It's just not so. If he wins the position and does great, outstanding for him and MC, but it will be a competition for sure.

I'm hearing its a player from 7 miles west of them.
Is Rita getting any interest from these QBs? There's a part of me that feels Fennel playing defense, WR & RB (at times) outweighs him at QB.

lol I doubt it. Fennel is the best athlete on the field. Be hard to not have him go both ways, he can easily be WR1 and play nickel. But if we are committing to run first offense, might as well just play him at QB.
I was a fan of the sophomore they got from Peoria. Looks the part, strong arm. To go from playing freshman down state opponents to being welcomed to southside football and having to open up against Marist, Carmel , rice. He rebounded nicely. Time will tell.

Won’t he be 16 when he’s a freshman?

Didn’t Naz just have a 4yr starter at QB?

Not sure if it’s the same thing as Carmels freshman QB who repeated 8th grade twice. But incoming being 16 makes sense. He’s a big boy. Every post I see he just keeps growing and looks the part more and more each day. As for bar stool promises, I think it’s wellllll beyond that. He will be on varsity as a freshman. will he start? I think so, could he be back up? Possibly

Tides are changing. Last two years, rice and Carmels recruiting classes were dead even. This year’s incoming rice freshman class is the most impressive I’ve seen maybe ever.

That’s a good point. He will be older than a typical freshmen. Also, whatever you think of the dad, he is a successful QB coach. The kid is not a typical Frosh QB. Saw some recent highlights of him. He is the real deal.

He was a 4 year starter and went 5-4 in the CCL Orange and finished 7-5 with a quarters L. They started 0-3 though as he struggled but he definitely rebounded as he got the game speed figured out.

This freshman at BR would be coming into the CCL Blue and opening the season vs LWE. I'm sure he dominated vs 13 and 14 year olds, but it will be a huge adjustment for him. MC has 7 starters back on defense with 3 probable 5 stars in Tucker, Roman and Harrington plus the whole secondary back. I'm sure the Father and son mimic Joe and JD McCoy from Friday Night Lights but if your going to bank on a Freshman and toss your Junior aside....well good luck
