Idc what you think honestly. I just wanted to let you know that the barbaric ignorant views you have are why our state is continuing to drown itself. So when our state continues to fail look at yourself and ask the question as to what you could have done for your state. God bless sir
I don't have views that you like so I'm barbaric. You're just another liberal that thinks he knows what's best for everybody. Since you seem to know everything, what's the answer for that area? Enlighten us all.

You're so clueless. You don't understand what I'm saying at all. For someone who doesn't claim to be a liberal, you sure act like one.
I'm from there. I know exactly what it is to live there. That area has never been invested in to bring other opportunities there. There are no roads for easy access. There's no areas being developed to bring in other industry. Never has been.
These guys just want to go to work. They are miners and that's what they want to do. If you know them you know that. The ones that don't leave if they can.
Blaming McConell for all of the issue is just typical. I'm not saying he's innocent, but there have been Governor after Governor that did nothing.
All the guys I know just want to work in the mines and take care of their families. They don't want hand out or charity. Just a job to go to.
THEN CREATE JOBS AND INDUSTRY. Stop the ********. If theres no way to create jobs in that region then stop telling those individuals that that’s what you’re going to do, and no I’m a conservative I just recognize when something is ignorant and wrong and I recognize a lie. I’m not barricaded into a box with my views. You should learn to look outside of the box and not hold yourself to one set of views.

I’m a conservative lol I’m in the military I’m pro-life stop the ****. Just because I see things differently than you why do I have to be a liberal. Is that what it’s come to? Could not pay me enough to ever consider running for office in the current political environment.
Truthfully you’re right. Too much going on and too many people are so stuck in their ways and aren’t willing to venture and learn. You’re either a liberal or a conservative and you can’t have views that the other supports.

We vote for these elected individuals because they’re supposed to have answers to the problems we have.

No. That's how we got where we are. They're supposed to balance a checkbook and allow people the freedom to solve their own problems.

Our corrupt government cannot manage money, and they continually tax and take away freedoms from the citizens in exchange for stupid campaign promises they can't deliver. The hole gets deeper. Repeat.

THEN CREATE JOBS AND INDUSTRY

You are totally clueless as to what is currently going on in KY.

Kind of like Andy's latest campaign line about promoting jobs and industry!!!

That's exactly why Bevin won, a relative outsider not necessarily liked by either good ol' reps or dems, btw. Brought desperate needed change to a backwards state run by decades of crooks. He won on jobs, and he delivered on jobs. Saying otherwise is just a lame attempt to sway uneducated voters.

I said the current regime is not so we need to make changes. Read into the context lol. I’ll say it one more time i don’t care about someone’s promises. I want changes to be made. I don’t want to be told there will be changes.

Kid, in the current political environment you have to pick a side. There is no in between where you can try to push new ideas that might appeal to both sides. Hopefully we can reach that point again some day. But it's not right now.

I also think you need to focus 99% of your energy on state politics. In reality there isn't much a newly elected senator could do for the state until they've been around a full term or more.

Get your local pols to pass gambling and marijuana and even though some people will hurt themselves, the state as a whole will progress. IMO.

Stop promising them jobs? What are they supposed to do, move because you think they should? If you don't have answers, then stop acting like you know what the problem is.
Have you ever been to these areas? If you have, then you know these people are not leaving. They love it there, they like living there. All they want are jobs and a way to support their families. The best jobs and the best way they have been able to do that is mining. Until someone actually cares and starts truly investing and creating other ways for them to do that, that's what they want, mining jobs.
You seem to think this area is full of inbred, uneducated hillbillies that spend their days setting on the front porch playing banjos and spitting tobacco.
They have running water, They have electricity. They have degrees and and are highly skilled in a lot of trades.
Welders, electricians, teachers, nurses, pharmacists, etc. Stop stereotyping an area and a people because you are not educated about the area or the issues.

The problem is you have a very small % of people/politicians who want to try and help people. They get elected and then learn they have to fundraise 95% of the time to stay in office. They realize that those who donate the kind of money they need to stay in power want the rules written in their favor and it is never in the best interest of the people they represent. Politics of today is all about picking a side. If you are an outsider that does not toe the party line both the media and party power players do all they can to ruin you.

Not even a liberal but the hate for another group of human beings based upon some political views is the most idiotic ignorant thing I’ve ever seen.

It seems both political sides hate each other. I wish there were no such things as political parties. Just do away with them and let everyone vote for whoever they want.

Never said it was. Manufacturing is booming. Lots of work and OT. Been in it almost 30 years.
Please list all the areas that are struggling so bad that you think they need ideas like yours to make it better.
Central Kentucky has more jobs than people to fill them. Drive around the area and look at all the "We are Hiring" signs up. Daily and weekly on-site job fairs. Interviewing and trying to fill all their open positions. Plenty of options and opportunities in Madison, Fayette, Boyle, Garrard,Rockcastle, Clark, Scott, etc.

I’m a conservative

You keep saying that, common tactic for people to self-label to fake credibility. Other than a generic "both sides" comment everything is liberal gibberish. As for promising jobs, that is our political populism at work, Beshear is doing the exact same thing right now. Govt does not create jobs, they can only incentivize. The state has done a lot for EKY and jobs are not coming there for many reasons. It is incumbent on the people there to leave and find work where it is.

I’m a conservative. Trump is a dumbass. He PERSONALLY effects my job on a daily basis yet you don’t have to see that. And McConnell being powerful has really helped Kentucky hasn’t it? We are the second most depressing state. We have a high suicide rate. Poor people who have been FORGOTTEN across the mountains and other regions. People who were promised jobs were lied to. You don’t know what you’re talking about. You literally are watching our great state drown itself and yet you continue with this dumbass uneducated rhetoric

Always love the "I'm a conservative" proclamation followed by multiple posts shitting on conservatives/conservative politicians/conservative ideas. As sure as the sun rising in the east.

Not sure what you want. Unemployment is at record lows, lots of new jobs created, $200M state budget surplus, and the 2 pols you are complaining about (Matt B/Mitch) are solid social conservatives. Kentucky has had YEARS - nay - DECADES of democrat majority leadership/legislation, but yet wanna **** on conservatives who are actually affecting change in a good way...... in a fairly short period of time.

I mean, I guess you can always hold on to "OMG EKY IS STILL ****!!1!1!!!!", but that overlooks many other positives and is short-sided. It takes time to transition out of a dying industry - especially when it's all a region has ever known. Ask Detroit. Can't be done with a snap of a finger or a stroke of a pen.

Get a grip, Mr. Conservative.

I wouldn't have to do that if people wouldn't immediately call me a "flaming libtard yee yee yee haw" everytime I have an issue with anything conservative. You praise 2 of the most commonly acknowledged terrible public officials in this country. I come across people in my line of work (I'm in the military) who are also conservative who consistently talk about how "the governor of Kentucky is an idiot" "Mitch McConnell is an idiot" because he is and they are. We are ranked as the 46th....46TH....state in the yearly fiscal rankings. You want to be happy about that lmao? McConnell has been in office for longer than I've been alive. Can't be changed in the snap of a finger lmaoooo???? The man has had 3 decades to get it right. Its time for him to go. As long as I've been alive this state hasn't progressed. It hasnt gotten any better. The perception of who we are as Kentuckians has though. We are now the cigarette smoking tobacco spitting welfare living bums whereas 10 years ago we were blue collar roll you sleeves up workers. Some good these POS elected officials have done for us.

And just fyi I'm a conservative and always will be mostly because of my religious views and ideology towards abortion and how the bible is portrayed between the 2 parties.

You sure have a negative view of a state you claim to be from. There are areas of KY that are pitiful because of drugs and poverty. Absolutely are.
However, there are many regions that are much better than they used to be.
Madison county has grown leaps and bounds in the last 20-25 years. So have many other surrounding counties.
If you want to compare certain areas, Baltimore, Chicago, Detroit, and others have declined much worse than regions of KY. Detroit went bankrupt. Chicago and Baltimore are like post apocalyptic cities in some areas. Yet they keep electing the same folks who keep destroying their cities.

Please tell me what Beshear did to improve KY?
Hazard is a much improved area from what used to be. So is London. So is Corbin.
To act as if KY hasnt improved is very disingenuous.

All the guys I know just want to work in the mines and take care of their families. They don't want hand out or charity. Just a job to go to.

It is McConnell's and other political representitives job to bring economic growth to the citizens that they represent. Economic growth doesn't happen overnight. Coal miners might just want to mine but there are only about 4,000 mining jobs in the entire state and that number is dropping every year. I'm sure the buggy makers just wanted to build buggies when the automobile was invented but times change and industries come and go.
It will take decades to build roads necessary for economic development...it takes decades to raise the academic standards and educate people to take on the jobs of the future. Miners want to mine because for the most part that's the only thing they know how to do. What about their children? What about the futures of those people that sell to those miners once those mining jobs go bye-bye?

McConnell has the 3rd most powerful seat in the country and done next to zero for the people he represents. Making excuses that govenors didn't do anything...dude, until the last 20 years the state limited govenors to one term. The state has only had 2 govenors serve 2 terms...McConnell has been in the Senate 34 years. It takes a while to gain power and implement a plan...every govenor will have thier own plan and priorities and a limited time to produce...McConnell has had 34 fricken years.
He has known coal was going the way of the horse and buggy...he knew that tobacco use was falling...what has he done to replace those industries?
Toyota in Georgetown was started in 1986 just after he first took office but it was brought in by Martha Lane Collins and no help from Mitch.

The mines aren't coming back it doesn't matter what the orange clown tells you.

BTW, I bet your mine worker friends would like to see their Black Lung benefits funded...something McConnell is directly dragging his feet about. But I have to say...if they are still dumb enough to vote for him then I guess they get what they deserve.

Oh, so some people you come in contact with call them idiots? Well, hell, that settles it!! Never mind record low unemployment, 200M surplus, thousands of new jobs, socially conservative ideas...… you know, real things you can point to. I know that doesn't trump muh feelings, but it should. Jesus.

Please take a stab at why we are ranked 46th in that ranking. Let's see where that rabbit hole takes you.

To put this at the feet of the people trying to fix decades of majority democrat legislation/policy is the most inane thing I have ever seen from a supposed conservative.

Sure, MM has been in the senate forever. He's also a US senator who doesn't/shouldn't have the power to fix everything from state to local issues. I'd also venture to guess you know very little about what MM has done for this state other than "OMG EKY!!" I am from a very small county with limited funding/revenue. My dad was CJ-E for the past 8 years and MM has helped them immensely with procuring funds to complete much needed projects......one being the largest funded project in the county's history (a much, much needed 15M water treatment plant). Which, BTW, just won the award for best tasting water in the state.

But, I get it. Your friends call them both clowns and morons. So...….

Every major city has its problems you're right. They continue to elect new officials to make changes as should we, and I love Kentucky. I would love to come back home and I want to every day that I'm away but changes have to be made. We are moving backwards. You know something as simple as putting in cellphone towers in those regions. I grew up believing that it was normal to drive through areas and knowing that you wouldn't have cellphone service in some areas or hell a portion of where some of my family lives in Bath County doesn't have freaking running water lol. I tell someone about not having cell service in some areas and they look at me like we live in Haiti. Do you understand how ridiculous that is?
