Kind of getting tired already if the media fawning over Brohm staying at Purdue. I’d like to see some narrative about a guy leveraging his alma mater to get some serious additional money from his current employer. So far the whole narrative is about the emotional decision but how he made a commitment to his guys...rah rah. He could’ve done that a week ago and not brought UofL in as a bargaining chip. I admire his ability to get the raise but I’d prefer to at least acknowledge that not all of this was rooted solely in altruistic motives.

Again, no new contract is on the table at Purdue. Will there be a significant raise for Brohm and his staff, absolutely. But, the AD, President and Chair of the BOT told hime to figure out where he wanted to be first. If it's Purdue, then we'll talk money.

Sure. If you don’t think money was involved then wtf was his agent embedded with him the last couple of days. Otherwise I think maybe he would’ve just had his priest with him.

I’ll add that I think a lot of national media are happy that Louisville was on the receiving end of this $hitburger. Right or wrong, we’ve been branded as somewhere between nouveau riche and renegade program. Guys like Mandel and Thamel are gleeful when crummy things happen with UofL.

St Matthews police may want to speak to you tomorrow, so don’t stray too far.

No, money is involved, but he trusted Bobinski to do right by him. Compare that to your AD who put him in an incredibly awkward position. That was not appreciated by Jeff or his family.

Or...he was seriously considering Louisville, and wanted to hear out Tyra instead of just saying no without giving him a chance to interview him face to face.

If it was just purely an emotional decision to be made then a spiritual adviser would’ve been best to guide him through that decision process. Anyways, I enjoy watching his team play and we will just have to get over the sour grapes.
Territory I don’t want to delve into. Looking forward to a new era.

Not sure how it wasn’t going to be awkward.

Yep. It just gets a little drippy when the media runs with this “it was all about the commitment made to the athletes” narrative. Oh well, as you said, let’s move forward. I’ll still have my season tickets (and I’ll still enjoy watching JB’s teams compete).

I honestly think this was ultimately decided because of the timing.

Some will point to the mess to clean up at UofL but I believe that if this had happened a year or two down the road after Jeff had left his mark on the Purdue program and had them at playing in the Big 10 Championship game, he might have felt it was time to come home for good.

We may never know. Good luck to JB. I’m ready to start winning again here.

I agree with this. I thought BP's flame out this year was perfect timing for us. If this is year 4 or 5. He's at U of L.

Heres where we disagree.
If he is loyal, he cant leave, because every new class will expect him to stay 4 yrs.

We did expect Petrino to finish his contract and Brohm to replace him. Just not this year

However the job came open and it would hav been perfect for him to come.
