Please don't tell me that you have a tightly shaved beard and wear a suit coat and tie with shorts and sandals. Please Lineski, please.

Ha! Sounds like a super prepster, maybe even a high class of bro.

T-shirt, jeans and sneakers. Sometimes even orthotics (or moon boots, from their appearance) cause my feet often hurt. Drink Bourbon. Go to old bars. Not being bothered and hassled. I'm a 60-year old man essentially. Which means when I'm actually 60, I'm probably going to be miserable.

Damn you Lineski. That is the most hipster thing ever. "essentially". You're a 30 yr old guy whose own farts may startle you. I trust you, but I shouldn't. Evidence shows that your bourbon drinking needs professional help

Personally, I'm a former daily pot smoker (96-04) who might enjoy the occasional puff a couple times a year, if that. If it were legal, I would smoke regularly and never touch a drop of that man-made piss water they call booze ever again. No pukes. No whiskey ***** (probably some Taco Bell *****). No hangover. No saying/doing things I'll regret the next day or forever.

Good post all around, but wanted to single out this part because it's something I hear constantly, from the pro-pot side.

Why is it that in real-world examples, everyone who smokes pot does so moderately, and everyone who drinks is a raging alcoholic? You CAN drink in total moderation, many of us do. The last 8 times I had an alcoholic beverage, only 2 of those times did I have more than 4 and have a slight hangover. The other 6, were 1-3 drinks out with some friends, and had a buzz for maybe an hour. No hangover, no puking, didn't affect my day at all, at least anymore than a bong hit would.

Not everyone ties one on every time they drink. That'd be like someone saying everyone whop smokes doesn't leave their couch and walks around in a fog all day.

People need to realize that weed and drinking aren't just different in effects, but different in how it's consumed, how often it's consumed, the stigma's of both, etc. They are quite different when you boil it down.

And man-made piss? I think we can all agree that there are alcoholic drinks out there which are infinitely better than inhaling smoke.

FWIW I smoked daily from 2006 until 2012

lmfao.. in retrospect, calling myself an old man could actually be pretty hipsterish, or dare I say.. millennial-ish. Crap.

I drink coffee out of a Keurig and I use tap water for it. T-A-P water.. the very thing that frazzles a hipster brain. That HAS to prove my innocence here!

There are a lot worse things.. In descending order of coffee millennial-ness.

1. Drip coffee.
2. K-cups.
3. Starbucks Coffee.
4. Starbucks $5 specialty drinks.
5. Unique coffee house around the corner.
6. New unique coffee house because the other one was "just too popular".
7. Any of these..

8. "Caffein is just.. another drug, our bodies don't need it. I get energy from positive vibes and The Lumineers"

Of course there's moderation and going overboard.

I was just pointing out at from my experiences at maximum consumption of each substance as in blacked/passed out, one had worse effects than the other. I used to drink daily and get drunk 5 nights a week. Alcoholism runs in my family. I found myself "needing" liquor and decided to quit for a couple years altogether when I was 28 so I wouldn't end up dead, in jail or in and out of rehabs like some of my aunts, uncles and cousins. The older I got, the less I could handle the negative effects of the booze on my body and quit drinking long before I stopped smoking. I would even go as far as saying the weed helped me kick the booze pretty easily. And quitting pot wasn't hard at all other than some mild insomnia and irritability for the first week.

I still drink maybe 10 times a year, mostly 1-2 drinks socially as you mentioned.

And I didn't mean to insinuate that everyone who drinks is a booze hound or all alcohol is gross. Nothing like a premium bourbon, neat. But from my experiences there's no contest between the two, but one is sold at gas stations and grocery stores and the other is a "drug charge" that carries a stigma. It's just frustrating that the one I prefer the least is socially acceptable while the one I prefer the most is illegal and not socially acceptable.

So what you're saying is thst you don't want people breaking the the law by driving to work high if marijuana were to be legalized....... You're totally safe then because nobody breaks the law right now when it comes to marijuana use......................................................

Then you don't know the law. DUI laws include scheduled drugs as well as alcohol.

He was referring to the taste and no that's not something we can all agree upon.

The taste of what? A Rum and coke? Wine? Blueberry and sprite? Some fruity drink in the Caribbean? You're trying to tell me that there isn't any alcohol, in any form, that tastes good?

And Mash, aren't we the same age? Pretty sure your a millennial with me.

Long ago are the days of spending my weekend nights out till 5:00am and sleeping in until 2 in the afternoon. Like you said, it takes a toll on your body. Hangovers get worse, responsibilities grow.

Yeah I get the frustration. Like I said, it should be legal. There are benefits in many areas. There are economic reasons as well. I just think the pro-pot crowd lashes out at alcohol way too much. They throw a lot of double standards in. For instance, weed isn't addictive but alcohol is? I'll bet that theory goes out the door in a decade. I know quite a few stoners who can't function in society without being high.. Isn't there a term for that? When a person can't start their day without alcohol??

He was referring to the taste of beer. You said that we all can agree there are alcoholic drinks that are better than smoking. I do not agree. I prefer smoking over any kind of alcohol. That's not saying all alcohol tastes like ****.

Anything can be mentally addictive. Weed is not physically addictive, alcohol is.

That's what he's talking about: taste. He said the taste of piss-water, I guess he meant beer? I thought he meant the taste of alcohol. I can mask the taste of alcohol with about 100 different ingredients and combinations, and most people will say it tastes great.

Addiction is addiction in my book.

Grain alcohol tastes worst than weed smoke which tastes worse than a Key West Lemonaid.. Some won't agree, but I imagine that's out of spite, whether it's the pro-alcohol or pro-weed crowd. I never minded weed smoke. Cough to get off isn't as fun.. but neither is that 2nd shot of bourbon that goes down a little sickly..

No doubt I'm biased, by the way. Ha. I will fully admit that. I'm a bartender on the side and plan on owning a bar. If they made alcohol illegal, I'd be furious, and also probably broke. I completely agree that weed should be legal..

Imagine the profit you will make when its fully legal and you can sell joints too. Or gb hits.

I could set up a gb stand instead of a lemonade stand.

One is literally poison. The other is a plant in its natural form, and it has medicinal properties. Cut the crap Lineski. You know the deal. You've just conformed, and that's cool. Just own it.

Wine's a poison and has zero medical properties itself? Jesus, don't be so black and white. That thinking is the exact issue with the pro-pot crowd. You think in absolutes. "NOPE NO ONE EVER HAD A BAD EXPERIENCE WITH WEED" and "EVERYONE WHO DRINKS IS REALLY DRINKS BATTERY ACID".

If you celebrate 4/20, you've conformed just as much, picked your side, and dug in deep. Not a bad thing, but as you said "own it".

I'm going to a Legalize It 420 party on 4/20 and plan to burn exactly at 4:20 p.m to get the "full experience". I'd invite you, but from the sounds of it you wouldn't go.

I don't see why you need a special day to burn. Just do it any day. I was under the impression celebrating 4/20 was for the college and younger crowd, anyways.

I'd probably still partake, and I actually still may (depending on work schedule), it's important to some friends, I guess ..But couldn't celebrate for long.. my lungs have NEVER gotten acclimated to smoke.. legit 2-hitter quitter. Id probably just make fun of the guy in the corner explaining why 4/20 is so important and how it's Hitler birthday and some crap. It'd probably be Mash actually..

4/20 is something I've never participated in, and it's huge here. Your spot on about the college and younger crowd thing. This is after all a college town. You should come on out to Colorado. Again? The stuff here doesn't require multiple hits, and you can try edible's.

Lol try again, hoes. I'll repeat:

Alcohol is a poison. Weed ain't.

Weed smoke is bad for your lungs and pot does have negative long term health effects. So don't act like its 100% good for you.

"Smoking marijuana produces a nearly threefold increase of inhaled tar compared with tobacco, according to some studies. Other research suggests that marijuana smokers, compared to cigarette smokers, inhale more deeply and hold their breath longer."

"Long-term, heavy use of marijuana can lead to impaired thinking skills and memory problems, Lamarine says, citing published studies. The impairments can be especially hazardous when trying to do everyday activities such as driving."

"Numerous studies have linked marijuana use with schizophrenia."
