Just read that on ESPN, I just hope Justise and Grayson can get healthy and stay healthy. Our Duke boys seem to stay hit with the injury bug. Kyrie, Wendell, Marvin, and Luke have been out a lot also

Wow. Have 3 players from the same National Championship team ever been on the same NBA roster together? That has to be a record..

On a side note.. why the hell would Miami trade a young up and coming player like Justise straight up for a 36 year old Iggy.

Memphis needs 2 more former Duke players and there will be 2 teams with 5 former Duke players on the same team and if Jabari goes to Sacramento then they’ll need 2 more former Duke players and there will be 3 NBA teams with 5 former Duke players. As it is now it’s kind of crazy that a total of 11 former Duke players are playing on just 3 NBA teams. Also imagine hypothetically if Quinn Cook and Jahlil Okafor ended up getting traded to Memphis then they’d have 5 of the main players from our 2015 championship team.

What’s our best 5 right now?

Ingram, Barrett, Zion, Kyrie and Tatum?

The second 5 isn’t bad:

Bagley, Carter, JJ, Tyus, Winslow

Seth and Luke are still there too.

Damn we deep!

I don’t think Barrett is there yet. Healthy Bagley is definitely ahead of him. So is Austin Rivers honestly. The top 4 are easily Tatum, Ingram, Irving, and Zion.

Denver lets make it happen!!! I will go to the bank today and get the loan to get us started! Adam Silver has assured me no problem adding the "Durham Devils" to the league! OFC

Grizzlies and Pelicans both up-and-coming teams, both teams are battling each other for the 8 seed this season.
I'm willing to bet in a few seasons that these 2 teams will be battling each other in playoff series too, hopefully both squads hang on to as many Dukies as possible and even add some more.

Forgot about Rivers.
So Kyrie, Ingram, Tatum, Zion and Bagley with reserves being
Barrett, JJ, Rivers, Justise and Carter
Tyus, Seth and Luke to fill out the roster. That's a top 3 NBA team.

Just for fun, here's UNC's starters:
Harrison Barnes, Coby White, Reggie Bullock, Danny Green, Marvin WIlliams

At least they can still claim Vince Carter.

Don't sleep on Mason Plumlee as a reserve, he has been a solid backup big since he has been in the league.

But I agree, that Duke team is a title contender, and with almost all of the guys being young, would be a contender for like 10+ years.

Someone please explain to me why this was a good trade for the Heat? I keep seeing people say it was a good move by the Heat..

To me, Justise is Andre Iggy but 15 years younger.. yea, AI has championship experience but he hasn’t played a game all season long and is 37 years old.. the only way I can see this being a good trade is if the Heat don’t expect Justise to be healthy at all the rest of the season and they think they can fight for a title right now.

Jabari has been playing well the last 2 seasons when he is healthy.. also Frank and Jahlil are productive when they get minutes for the Pelicans..

An All-Duke NBA team would easily be a playoff team.

Rodney Hood is a solid reserve too. Actually was one of the main reasons Portland made the conference finals last year, then he had a really bad injury. Rodney is legit, always been underrated.

That seems like a terrible deal for the Heat. Wasn't Justise an all star recently, and Iguadala is in the twilight of his career?
For future return it is a horrible deal, but the Heat are contenders this year and Justise hasn't played much this year with injuries and Andre brings playoff experience.

I am going to the Pelicans @ Bulls game tonight, wearing my Duke Blue Devils Jersey underneath my Zion NOlA Pelicans Jersey. Hope I can somehow get Zion to sign The Pelicans Jersey.
Is Zion playing tonight? I saw something about a toe injury.

Yeah I think his contract is up and I honestly thought the Kings would have moved him for a second round pick due to their log jam in the front court

It was a terrible deal for the Heat if it was Justise for Iggy straight up. I say this as a Heat fan not a Duke fan. But it turned into a good deal because the Heat were able to shed the albatross contracts and bad team chemistry of Dion Waiters and James Johnson while getting a useful piece in Jae Crowder (and Solomon Hill) in addition to the championship experience and culture fit of Iguadala.

And essentially the Heat traded away 3 players who cant get on the court for 2 players who can.

Also, if you really want to get NBA nerdy about it. The Heat got Winslow's 13 million dollars off their books for the 2021 summer free-agency class, with the Iggy option, they don't have to pay him if they land a big free agent. They want all the open cap space they can get.
The free agents that summer are Giannis, Oladipo, and quite a few other big names. The Heat think they can land Giannis.

Definitely a shame. I think people sometimes forget how good of a prospect Giles was before his knee injuries. Anytime you draw comparisons to a guy named Chris Webber you're big time. Injuries suck.

Yeah his situation has been awful. If be surprised if he isn’t a two-way or even 10-day contract type of guy for the next few years. It sucks, but it’s the hard truth with what he’s dealing with. Too much risk for investment.

I talked about this right after Giles committed to Duke. I heard some guy on the radio one day being interviewed. I don’t remember exactly who he was but he was some kind of talent scout or something. He was asked about Giles. This was pretty much what he said: I never scouted LeBron James in high school, so with that said, Giles is the best high school basketball player I’ve ever scouted. Just that statement got me so excited about seeing him play. Yep, his injuries really sucked. I would loved to seen a Giles who’d never been injured at all

Any trade that enables you to get rid of Dion Waiters is a good deal. The poster guy for bad team chemistry,
