After listening to the podcast I expected him to be kind of a stiff so I watched his Youtube video - better than Ogbole IMO, and I was OK with Ogbole as only a backup for 12 mpg, and three years from now who knows?

If it's this kid, he's worth a look.

Don't know how competitive Slov-2 league is.
Seems to demand the ball.
Shoots a ton of FTs in 25 min/GM
Shoots an occasional 3

Your saying all leagues have guys and you either have it or don't, then bring up Wolf. Wolf averaged double digits in high school. Did he have it, and then not have it?10+ rebound per game average? Sign him up right now and I don’t care what “level” the basketball it is. And I’m one whose been on the anti Euro train.
Rebounds are rebounds. Street ball leagues can have physical guys who rebound the rock. That’s something you either have a knack for or you don’t. By way of comparison - as a full time starter for San Jose State, Ralph Agee grabbed 10 boards in a game a grand total of one time. Wolf did it a total of 3 times this season for Miami (Ohio). No matter what the “team” competition level is, every league is going to have some teams with some physical guys who rebound. To average 10+ rebounds game in and out means you can rebound. Full stop.
The other stats mean nothing without context of competition level.
That kid played at Xavier too. Did nothing in Big East or Big Ten, but played decently at Illinois Chicago. Not sure if actually the same league, but think Menic puts up slightly better #'s over there. It seems there is another guy from that league who played in the big, Sasa Ciani from Penn State
Cmon man that’s not true at all10+ rebound per game average? Sign him up right now and I don’t care what “level” the basketball it is. And I’m one whose been on the anti Euro train.

Maybe he had it and got it back.Your saying all leagues have guys and you either have it or don't, then bring up Wolf. Wolf averaged double digits in high school. Did he have it, and then not have it?
Like Stella, all is possibleMaybe he had it and got it back.
There are guys that rebound and guys that go get rebounds. You can't tell in that video which category this kid falls under, I wouldn't just assume he's a rebounder.I said rebounding only. Specifically said everything else (scoring the obvious) meaningless without knowing the competition. Only in high school stats is this true of rebounding metrics (ala Fall) for 2 big reasons:
1) they generally aren’t legit. Some random assistant keeping the book and making them up as they go (all stats except points can be that way in HS.
2) Opportunity to pad rebounds exists in HS for 6-10 type guys who stink because some teams don’t have anyone over 6-3. That’s not the case even in bad pro leagues and D3. By then, most teams have at least some size. High school is very different. Half of most rosters at least will have no shot at even D3. That’s true even on better teams.
Only info on teams website says ciani was an ex player playing at psu. I know this sasa guy went into portal again this year. That kid played at Xavier too. Cmon man that’s not true at all
rebounds aren’t rebounds… if you put a tall guy on a court with a bunch of short stiffs he’s going to get rebounds because he’s taller not because he’s good

Did he? That would make 4 schools in 4 years if someone picks him up. Par for the course nowadays I guess.Only info on teams website says ciani was an ex player playing at psu. I know this sasa guy went into portal again this year.
I have no problem with taking the chance, but not sure I'd want him to be the main backup. It does seem he played in the U19 world cup last year, playing 82 minutes across 7 games averaging 4 and 2.4. also U18 Eurobasket and went 2 and 1, so he has had some youth national team experience, and a couple guys on the team drew some rave reviews so he's played with and against some higher level talent. Funnily, seems his role there was similar to Gurdak as one of two centers on the roster, neither of which were starters as they went with forwards across the front. I believe Luca is on their men's national team. That’s totally fair, but I stand by the point I made above, and the data from all three levels of NCAA play that supports it. Unless the league is a glorified fraternity rec league consisting of complete non-players (which it’s not - it’s not worse than organized D3) averaging over 10 rpg isn’t “nothing”. Again - only 53 guys did it last year across about 20K NCAA players in D1, D2 and D3. This kid may not translate in other ways but if we had to play him 13 mpg I bet he’d grab 3-4 boards for us minimum. For this reason, I’d be willing to take a chance.

Maybe, all just guesswork without having any idea what these players actually cost. If anyone else is remotely interested in a player it cost much more than we think.I was thinking (hoping) by going with him and saving some money to be able to pick up another defensive forward.
Given Pike's recent success with Eastern European players, we have to trust the staff here. After listening to the podcast I expected him to be kind of a stiff so I watched his Youtube video - better than Ogbole IMO, and I was OK with Ogbole as only a backup for 12 mpg, and three years from now who knows?
The staff is what we have - for 13 mpg., and if he doesn't cost much, he's worth a shot. Maybe he even stays around and develops.Given Pike's recent success with Eastern European players, we have to trust the staff here.![]()
Perhaps - but we know we contacted DePaul’s 3rd string center which likely means that we shouldn’t expect all that much. We have our 3rd string lined up in Ware already.Maybe, all just guesswork without having any idea what these players actually cost. I'm not convinced we reached out to him as much as maybe someone on his side reached out to us. Wasn't it said it was RU that wasn't all that interested.Perhaps - but we know we contacted DePaul’s 3rd string center which likely means that we shouldn’t expect all that much.
