I have no problem with ranking St. John’s transfer class ahead of us.
I like our balance better than probably anyone’s in the country.
Returning:
Oweh- starter, leading scorer, All-SEC, potential SEC POY.
Garrison- key reserve last season, SEC and Big 12 experience, former P5 conference starter.
Chandler- key reserve last season (due to injuries). Should be better all season now the rust has been worn off.
Noah- solid reserve last year.
Transferring in:
Quaintance- potential lottery pick once 100% healthy. Could be a game changer.
(#10 in portal according to 247).
Lowe- leading scorer for his team last season, led in assists as well, All-ACC performer. (#36 in portal).
Williams- 3 and D guy, 40+% from 3. (#42 in portal).
Aberdeen- champion, SEC experience, great defender, leader, glue guy (#54 in portal).
Dioubate- Final Four/SEC experience, energy guy, great defender, high motor guy, 40+% from 3 (limited shots) last season (#62 in portal).
Potter- size and shooting (40% career on limited shots), insurance in case of injuries.
High School Recruiting:
Johnson- 5-star (#21 according to 247 composite).
Moreno- 5-star McD’s AA (#25 on 247 composite).
Hawthorne- 4-star (#33 on 247).
International Recruiting:
Jelavic- highly regarded, probably a top 10 International college prospect.
That’s a little bit of this and little bit of that.
I would like to have more players returning, but 4 out of a possible 5 isn’t bad at all.
Not a lot of teams return their best players. Getting Oweh back is huge for us.
(Purdue has a big edge there over most other contenders).
Should be a good mix of talent and experience.
