Lowe and Quaintance are the pivotal pieces for next year. If Quaintance is healthy he is one of the best bigs in the country. If Lowe adapts well to the SEC and gets his 3 point % up I think the rest falls into place. The defense will be better and Popes system will generate 3s. JQ is a legit rim protector something UK has lacked for a while.
Every year since 17 I’ve gone in thinking this team can be good but it’s missing something, I don’t feel that way this year.

Ill tell you this.. if JQ was going to Duke or Kansas, you wouldnt hear a word about his injury, he'd be an impact transfer, day 1. No exceptions.
As far as I can tell he should be ready to go in September, a good month or two before we ever play a single game.. yet some pundits want to convince themselves that he's 50/50.

The #1 transfer class, to go along with 4 quality players returning to go along with probably a top-5 recruiting class. All the pieces are in place barring a rash of injuries to win #9
I have no problem with ranking St. John’s transfer class ahead of us.
I like our balance better than probably anyone’s in the country.
Returning:
Oweh- starter, leading scorer, All-SEC, potential SEC POY.
Garrison- key reserve last season, SEC and Big 12 experience, former P5 conference starter.
Chandler- key reserve last season (due to injuries). Should be better all season now the rust has been worn off.
Noah- solid reserve last year.
Transferring in:
Quaintance- potential lottery pick once 100% healthy. Could be a game changer.

Moreno- 5-star McD’s AA (#25 on 247 composite).

We do have a great class but imo it has a chance to be elite. Its rated on who these guys were last year.
Almost every one of these guys has loads of room to grow their game. If even half of them take significant steps forward, lookout.

His shooting percentage last year was double and triple teamed WITH a broken finger on his SHOOTING HAND. His frosh season had a higher percentage and he should get good shots in our offense. I look for him to be shot 37 percent this year
I know not many teams have a big man as capable as Potter playing their 13th-14th man role on the bench, he’s a great weapon to have in case of foul trouble or just different looks for shooting.
I’m not seeing any shortcomings for the upcoming year. Jelavic is going to be better than expected. Chandler is going to be better than expected. JQ is going to be healthy earlier than expected. Every position is double and triple covered with top college basketball talent. Even with Cal’s first ten teams, there was often one position that looked weaker, typically small forward; this team doesn’t have that kind of worry. No one will be asked to do more than they are ready for. Experienced, elite guys can take the floor from the first jump ball and developmental players can develop as the season plays out.
