It's that time of year again. Looking for recommendations for nice places to stay in Mexico. Last summer we took a ladies trip (mom, sister, and two family friends) and stayed at the Riu Palace in Riviera Maya. We had a great time at the pool bar and laying on the beautiful beach with the Caribbean waters. This summer we are looking for something with a little more to do after the sun goes down and the pools close. The family friends will be taking their families, so we will have four teenagers that will need to be entertained for 4-5 days. We had looked at the Moon Palace in Cancun, but read some reviews that the beach isn't nice and the water isn't anything like the water at Playa del Carmen. Any recommendations anyone has would be great!

We are going to secrets in cabo in June. It looks nice and I've heard good things. Cactus jack seems like he'd be the Mexico expert round here

Last time my wife and I were in Cancun, we stayed at the Grand Oasis. They're all-inclusive and have four or five different hotels: one for families, one for partiers (very loud and fun), one for couples (much quieter), and one that's more exclusive. The one that's exclusive has some nice restaurants, including a Brazilian steakhouse that's nice. Nice pools, nice beaches, and a club for night life. Of course, the best night life stuff is actually off site.

She has my number, she can ask me if she wants.....I'd never stay at an Oasis property, but thats just me. Of course we don't do AI's, but I would throw out the Barcelo....its a huge complex south of Playa, and closer to Akumal really. Good for families.

Saragasso seaweed is terrible up and down the caribbean right now. Its been awful in Playa the past month. Hoping it goes away soon as we will be down there pretty quickly. Here is a little info on whats going on......

Seaweed sucks

Damn three of the islands I am hitting up this year are on that list. Way to give a guy a buzz kill Jack. Is this a seasonal thing?

The seaweed was in Galveston last summer. It was terrible. The only thing that seemed to like it were mosquitoes.

Yep....back when we stayed at AI's....Service, Food, etc.....all top notch. Plus you walk one block to 5th avenue. Everything about it is very nice. The beach isn't the greatest, but its ok, and better as you walk north.
