Jerry Jones didn’t become a billionaire by being stupid (eg Arkoma Resources). I thought he was losing it mentally, but his press conference today suggested otherwise.

The Cowboys are well positioned (draft picks + salary shaving) except for their boneheaded decision to re-sign Dak.
Thank you Stephen for backing me up; signed Jerrah “Genius” Jones. So you think repeatedly calling a player who played in Dallas for 4 years and was named to the Pro Bowl all 4 years and first team 2 years by the wrong first name is confirmation of his lucidity? Wow!

The smart thing to do would be to package their two firsts each of the next 2 years to move up. Their own pick will probably be mid round and the pack pick will probably be 23-27ish. Package and move up top 5. QB this year and trade Dak to rebuild with a new QB, then whatever next year.

Just please god not Allar….

on the other side, GB, super young team, just tied up a TON of cash they’re gonna need over the next few years for their own young guys contracts. Totally a win now move
Yeah I think Jerrah should wait another year and draft Pribula. Geez.

I did a poor job trying to make this point. The $47M a year is basically in anticipation of 15-18 sacks. Great production overall but you might get that same production for less $ across different players.
You cannot get the same level production for less $ from multiple players playing the same number of snaps (combined) as Micah plays in a game. If you have 2 players playing 1/2 of the number of snaps as Micah in each game and they are each getting 8 - 9 sacks in a year, they are going to start playing a lot more than 1/2 of the snaps and they will be in line to make big time money as well.

Nice nuance there.

Last year Dallas lost by an average of 20.7-27.5 per game.
I got sidetracked. I think that this year’s Cowboy D will be worse than last year and here we are with the O needing to score an extra touchdown a game just to break even.

Dak is a good guy, really like him but if he was ever going to get to the next level he’d be there by now. George Pickins isn’t going to rescue him.

You are entitled to your opinion.
Parsons has not been practicing which means he's almost certainly going to be bothered by injuries this year. This happens all the time with players who hold out. So to me the Packers aren't even going to have a healthy player this year. For the Cowboys to get two first round picks is good for them.

I expect Parsons to have a monster year in GB. At 26, I don’t think lingering injuries will be a problem. Now, a freak knee or leg injury could happen to anyone. I don’t think sitting out training camp increases the odds of that happening.

Recall that 4 years ago, Howie Roseman was on a rotten run of first round picks. Now he’s lauded for having the Midas touch.

Jerrah isn’t Howie, but if they hit on 1-2 of their 4 first rounders, then it changes the narrative fast.

I’d rather be injured with the Packers than healthy with the Cowboys.

He'll have a pulled hamstring week 1.

I mean, anything is possible but he's 26--this isn't your normal guy in his 30s holding out. I'd wager Micah's been working out and they have over a week before the season starts for practices. Maybe he's limited week one or two but thinking a holdout will lead to an injury just...yeah, no

If these early reports are true, I find it somewhat crazy that Green Bay would give up multiple first rounders to then pay him $47 million/year. Feel like these types of moves usually work out better for the "seller".
Going all in for the next few years, especially this year.

Dallas got a good return under the circumstances

Did Dallas knowingly trade “damaged goods”?

I see Parsons is having some upper back/neck issues and might need a shot to play.

As with any transaction, it was incumbent on Green Bay to perform their due diligence.

Sadly, Jerry isn’t senile (yet). No way was he going to trade with Philly after seeing the NYG skewered all last season over letting Barkley walk.

And I don’t think paying draft pick comp and $47M annually for Parsons would have been a good move for the Eagles. Their defense is very young and completely homegrown. Parsons would change the locker room dynamic for the worse, IMO.
