You used to predict the opposing teams total points scored, and only off by 1? Cool.
Yet another "story as old as time".
Iowa always plays to the level of the competition.
Those two shots by Mara at the end could've easily bounced out, tough break. I hated Stirtz not taking an iso 3 on our last real possession. Banks should've gotten an and1 call near the end there when he tied it at 66, and one more on the dunk in the first half, but refs gonna ref. Michigan's ball handling outside their PG is suspect, and we correctly scouted that and played them very tight. It resulted in some genuine fouls, but 3 were really iffy and sent them to the line for 6 free throws I don't think they deserved. One was a forearm shiver against Howard that went against Howard and had me lawling. Easily the worst league refs in the country and they proved it one last time tonight.
I was hoping we'd back off more at the end and take our chances that they'd miss some 3s, but it almost worked out playing tight so hard to say which was better strat.

I'm not going to defend Koch exactly, but this is incorrect. His line was 3 PTS, 3 REB, 3 AST, 0 TO.
He just stands out on the perimeter on the offensive end and only took 4 shots, I don't know if that's coaching or the player.
Their guards had 1 basket each.
Cadeau had 9 FTs on 20 elbows to the defenders chest.
My favorite was his deliberately doing nothing but running at Howard to make contact and the ref automatically whistling Howard for doing absolutely nothing but being in a good legal guarding position.
He and Fears are the worst foul merchants in the league. They are good at digging into their defender at speed and then using their offhand to bounce off and make it look like a bump.
I counted four missed calls for Michigan and one for us, six points to two points. If those are called right, we win by one.
Agree. He needs to take some mighty big steps this summer when it comes to his offense, or lack thereof.

If Painter doesn’t choke in the first round game, I still think Purdue can win it all. Illinois would be my dark horse to win it. Michigan probably will make a deep run though…

On a side note, you know, we're going to be in post-season play. The problem is that some fans may be upset (And let me emphasize, "may be") if we end up in a less than desirable tournament. Given this roster, I'm glad they'll be playing in the post-season wherever they wind up.
They weren’t questionable, especially the ones on the perimeter. Get your hands outta the cookie jar, Iowa was doing the hard part, sitting down in a stance and moving their feet, don’t bail them out with a reach foul. Also stop being up in their grill 30 feet from the hoop. Iowa played with a lot of toughness/grit tonight, just didn’t play very smart
Ben called this out in post game. How some refs can’t see past these things means they aren’t a very good ref.
This is a big steaming pile of ****. Michigans #3 has perfected the art of giving the defender a forearm shiver, throwing his head back and flailing backwards to get a whistle. Shot probably close to 10ft’s off that between 15-10min left in the game. Meanwhile our All-American guard is getting hacked all the dam time with no calls.
Edit to add: all i ask for is a consistent whistle on both ends. Last night was far from that!
I don’t have time to point out all the missed calls….but it is beyond me how Banks took a body blow from TWO Michigan defenders at the very end and he still made the basket!
