MICS vs. TJA

Well, charters do hold an unfair advantage. I mean, look at TJ. They can pull from Rutherford, Cleveland and possibly Polk and Burke counties. MICS draws from Gaston, Mecklenburg and Lincoln counties. Mitchell draws from Mitchell County, with a population of around 13,000 as of 2017.

TJ has students from Cleveland and Rutherford County...not aware of students from any other counties...certainly not on the football team. TJ might have students from two counties, but they had an ADM of only 347 students last year. And in terms of the football program, TJ is competing with Burns, Shelby, and Crest in Cleveland County. TJ has some solid players, but the team is really good this season largely because of experience and the coaching staff (and Coach Cash). Also if there is really a (substantial) unfair advantage why aren't CSD, Pine Lake, and Union Academy, etc. better than they are? There might a slight advantage for most PUBLIC Charter Schools (maybe a bigger advantage for a few), but overall I don't think it's enough reason to put them in their own bracket.

just so everyone knows, I have no problems with TJ. I watched them field a team, and take an *** whooping for several years like most other 1a schools. But, they still are a charter, and I think we have come to the point with the number of charter schools that they should play in their own playoff bracket like private schools do. While I don't feel threatened by TJ, Beargrass, WSP, CSD or even the almighty MICS, I do still think they hold an unfair advantage over traditionals.

Mountie you have to let the Charter thing go my friend. It's not the school problem it's the system. TJ and MICS play with in the rules. Best believe not matter who wins or loses in this match up TJ and MICS will seed between the 3-6 in the playoffs. Both will be problem. MICS looks like TJ last year being Jr heavy this year and returning majority of this year team. A championship is bound to happen for Charters and MICS/TJ will have a big say.

Why do people think that student athletes can just come to Charter schools just because they want to. It’s a lot easier to get into public schools than charter schools. Charter schools have a lottery which students have to get pick or they don’t get in at all. Students can just transfer to public schools but not charter schools.

Yeah the hate is real for Charter schools and I don't understand why. Nobody has a super team or anything close

All this crying about charters. Is terrible, just cause nobody wants to move to a rural area y'all mad. Play the hand your dealt, if 400 kids are in your school. Coach em up, face it nobody's moving to the sticks. Just know Mics is the team all y'all wannabe. Mitchell doesn't stand a chance with neither. Mics or TJA would tap dance all over the boys in pretty purple.

Lol the Richman told us how awesome MIC was so I don’t understand Why they’ve lost a game.

From my understanding MIC lost because of some costly mistakes on special teams not taking nothing from their opponents but they have shot themselves in their foot

Just to touch on the subject is TJA QB
Getting the college recruiting for being used for a whole game. Taking hits and making tackles, is he getting the reward. My question for asking is Mics QB Graham. Just received a D1 offer today from Air Force. He only plays QB, not all the unnecessary hits and punishment. Similar numbers to TJA QB. Are the coaches helping him get recruited??? Or after football will just be on his own. If so he might wanna take Greene's route while he still has a year left. Mics QB is only a JR. too but his staff is helping this kid out way beyond the field. When's the last time your coach picked up the phone and called a recruiter??? My guess not never... Once again Ol'Rich dropping knowledge on you guys tucked away in the sticks. Remember it's more to life than. Working at Wal Mart distribution center after HS. Look mom I made it "as you watch the prices roll back".. LOL

What I got out of this pile is this: I will associate Rich with droppings. This is very accurate, most of his posts are droppings. So Rich keep spewing those droppings out of your mouth.

@dmcamp ..... Tomorrow is the showdown, tell your little brothers to get some rest. The Mics show is coming to forest city. Giving the folks where cellphones roam something to talk about. Tell #14 the outcome will be similar to when the Shelby speed played NC Elite this spring. He knows how that went. Same players same results. Mics brings that swag and sauce you can only get in the city.# Rich homie

Despite the score MICS offense was productive against BC. MICS lead in yards. The game came down to not kicking to #6 and 2pt conversions.

Camper welcome to the board.

If the MICS offensive production was important, it would be on the scoreboard.

Enjoy your 3rd place conference participation trophy.

So Rich what happened tonight? You said everything TJ does MICS does better but that's not what it looked like tonight. MICS couldn't pass against TJ most of the night, until they were down 34-8. #5 took some hard hits and he was about done. #1 was most of your offense tonight. Oh and what were you saying about our QB? He looked good tonight on offense and defense. He even had the int of your QB that only plays offense. Guess your QB isn't as tough as #14. Also, maybe I do sound like a male cheerleader, but hey at least it's for the team that's 10-0 and not 7-3. Oh and I hope your RB enjoyed getting hit by our MLB, what's his name, oh that's right Caleb Camp. I guess he got enough rest last night. And don't worry your RB's vision is alright, the other Camp is a DE.

Oh camp I like the way you edited your post. Bragging about our players getting injured. But for the camp brothers they played good. For 2guys with absolutely no offers or interest from colleges. Maybe they'll get an offer from University of Phoenix, if they ever field an online team. Our RB vision is fine, he's in route to Notre Dame right now. Watch your twitter tomorrow. Same thing makes you laugh will make you cry. We're still popping win or lose. Y'all did nothing Mics beat there self tonight. We'll see you again in the playoffs. The way you cheer so hard for your brothers. I can tell you was the greatest bench warmer TJA ever had. Live thru them VAn Camp #Mr. Beenie weenie

Didn't brag about anyone getting injured...did your QB get injured?? Our QB took some shots but kept getting back up. Those 2 guys didn't play football until the 7th grade, and they don't want to play in college. Congrats to your running back...tell him to be sure to wipe the tears out of his eyes before his visit tomorrow. And what was wrong with your center(s)? Did they forget how to snap a ball tonight. And your QB was too busy worrying about what our defense was going to do to catch the snaps.

As usually has been the case through my several visits to Thomas Jefferson, I enjoyed watching a game down there....The field sits down in a bowl somewhat, so the view of the field is perhaps one of the best I've seen for 1A Football for both the home and visitors...

As for the game, Thomas Jefferson dominated the line of scrimmage and time of possession in the first quarter while limiting MICS to only a 3 and out with the Gryphons' QB scoring twice for a 14-0 lead which they carried to the break...MICS did have a couple of 2 Qtr TDs called back due to holding penaltys, and Thomas Jefferson also had a 3rd Qtr TD called back for holding....Thomas Jefferson QB McMullens scored twice more in the 3rd quarter to give the Gryphons a 27-0 lead before MICS QB Marcus Graham passed to Elijah Burris who navigated his way for about a 25yd score...Graham then scrambled and made a great pass for the 2pt conversion to make it 27-8, but Thomas Jefferson answered with a early 4th Qtr Nomi McMullens' pass for a TD to basically seal the win for the Gryphons....MICS did add a late TD, but the game had already been decided by that time....

My overall evaluation of the two teams is that Thomas Jefferson is a Senior(17) dominated team that is led by a very talented Jr. QB in Mcmullens who runs and throws very well....He will need to get bigger and stronger for his Senior season if he wants to play at the next level, but he does have the skill set to do just that....The Offensive and Defensive lines of the Gryphons are good with the Offensive line very good with the Center and both Guards being Seniors who work well together....The RB Lane has a low center of gravity, and runs the ball hard, and seems to be pretty stout...Provided the Gryphons win next week to finish their first unbeaten season as SPC Champs, they will be at home for most of the playoffs with a likely BYE in the first round...

As for MICS, I counted at least 6+ times last night where the center either snapped the ball too high or too low for the QB who was in a shotgun formation all night, which really made it tough at times to get the play right....It was a bizarre scene when the Assistant Coach and the DE had a rather heated exchange after the DE/LB was called for a deadball unsportsmanlike penalty on TJ's first drive of the game which resulted in a TD run by the QB....There's no doubt that the QB Graham and RB Burris are talented, but the Gryphons made the Raptors defense look very suspect as I don't remember the Gryphons punting but maybe once or twice in the game, and the Gryphons basically dominated the DL of the Raptors who just didn't have an answer for the scrambling ability of QB McMullens...MICS is dangerous if they can play with more discipline, and can open some holes for Graham and Burris....They do also have some big and talented WRs, but just seemed as though they had trouble finding them last night, and I guess that you could credit the Gryphons' defense with that as McMullens who plays FS also had an INT for the Gryphons in the 3rd Quarter...

On a personal note: Congratulations to Coach Jerry Cash who picked up his 324th career win tonight as the Gryphons honored a Senior Class who will be remembered as Conference Champs, and provided they win next week, will go down as the first undefeated regular season team in Gryphons' Football history...

Roar Tigers Roar!

Last nite TJ ran the ball down there throat! That shoving match was between the MICs O coordinator and LB was classic. They both should be dismissed!

Blackman I must say that your posts are extremely entertaining. Honestly, I thought it was mostly just a shtick to keep attention on the MIC program. However, after watching your team last night I think this is the real Blackman. You tell this same stuff to your players at practice every day.

The sad part is you guys are missing the point of high school football. To you, it’s all about titles and D1 scholarships. Glory reigns supreme in your program. Too bad, because the best part of high school football is the life lessons that these young men learn. It’s about playing for the guy next to you. Sticking together and preserving when things aren’t going your way. Grinding it out through the hot summer while others lay by the pool or stay inside playing video games. It’s about picking your teammate up when they make a bad play and telling them “next time you got it”. These are lessons young men need to learn and unfortunately, most of them do not get it in today’s society.

You can brag about all of your D1 offers and visits. You guys certainly have some freakishly talented players. Yes, you have a young coach who loves to post all over social media about the great things that are happening to a select few players. But at some point the parents, and hopefully the administration, are going to start asking “what are our boys learning from the football program?”.

The right way was on display for you last night. I hope you played close enough attention to see it. That was a large family of brothers you played against. They genuinely love each other. The type of love that comes from being together for 6 years. The type of love that gets stronger even as some of the most talented players on the team leave for greener pastures. (yes, we know you guys were chirping in Tucker’s ear all spring and summer about how the TJ coaches weren’t treating him right). The type of love that if a coach started pushing around one of the players on the sideline then he would end up with the whole team in his face. It’s an amazing thing to watch when it’s done right. Coach Cash may not be social media savvy. He may not work the college recruiter circuit every weekend. But he knows how to build a band of brothers that will fight for each other, and leave it all on the field. He may not be a cutting edge coach, but he must know something to win 324 games.

So go ahead, enjoy all of the hype and glamour of D1 offers. We’ll just be sitting over here in little ol’ Avondale churning out amazing young men that will blow your mind if you ever get the chance to speak with them. Articulate, humble, caring, hardworking young men. You know the kind this country used to celebrate. Who knows, we may even see a state title or some D1 offers. But that will be a result of something bigger that’s going on at TJ.

Tiger town Rick.... that was a great summary. A lot of mistakes from Mics. Those high snaps put us in 2nd or 3rd and 25+ situations. #14 played great he killed the Raptors. Mics basically took away there passing game but the run game killed us.

The starting center was out and that clearly messed up the snaps. Your QB played tough and your team deserved the conference title. Our QB is just fine knowing that he will be going to college debt free in his junior year of high school. I'm sure our RB will have a blast at ND today. We return most of the team and both players will get another shot down the road.

As I said after going to watch Mickey Island Circus get handled by BC a few weeks ago this team is nowhere near as good as last years that came to Murphy. The sauce mans posts are entertaining, sounding like a used car sales man pumping sunshine trying to sell us on the pretty outside appearance but in reality the engine has issues. Denny Green said it best “WE ARE WHO WE THOUGHT THEY WERE!”

You are so right, this MICS team only has about 3 special players and with there Coaching and discipline issue they need more special kids like last season to overcome that!
