Any Mid Major guys that have caught your eye that could be some good depth pieces for next season?

One I saw is Honor Huff at Chattanooga. Averages 15pts a game shooting 42% from 3.

Another is Tyler Lundblade at Belmont. Has hit 100 3pt FGs this season at 48%.

Any similar guys i’m missing not currently at a P5 school?

I never expected a thread titled like this on our site. Could you please rename it? I never want our program to be associated with anything mid major.

Mid-major:

PF Jamicheal Stillwell(Milwaukee)- stud.
G Obi Agbim(Wyoming)- shooting 45% from 3.
Wing Max Green(Holy Cross)- Kentucky kid.

P5:

C Malique Ewin(Florida St.)- see smashcat’s post above.
PG Bruce Thornton(Ohio St.)- dropped 30 on us in December. Tough, strong guard.

That would be my top 5 wishlist, at least right now.

There will be a long list of possible players. But not as long as past 3-4 years, since no more 5th year guys (except former JUCOs).

I just got a list of 127 guys, with more to add when look at more than just scoring. The 127 was all JR who scored 15+ppg, Soph 14+ppg, FR 13+ppg, and was not at an upper-half P5 school. Not yet looked at top rebounders, top STOCK (Steal+Block) guys, top 3pt shooters.

My wish list is:
- G, prefer 6'2+, who is quick, can defend very well, and makes 37%+ of his 3's making 1+/gm
- Wing, 6'5-6'8, who can defend well, & makes 40% of his 3's making 2+/gm
- PF, 6'8+, who can defend well, & makes 35%+ of his 3's
- PF or C, 6'9+ who rebounds well (9+ per30min), and gets 2.5+ STOCKS/gm

Keyshawn Hall from UCF. 6'7 and 235lb combo forward in the mold of Adou Thiero minus a little bit in hops but makes up for it with slightly better jumper. Damn near 20ppg for UCF who may want to play on a bigger stage. Could be a modern day Darius Miller player for us as too big and strong for most 3s but too fast and agile for most 4s but able to guard both.

I made this post in another thread:

Looking at players and sorting them according to certain stats has led me to some intriguing FR/SO prospects from mid-majors who are a bit under the radar:

Austin Rapp 6'10'' FR PF/C Portland

--He has attempted over 200 3's and shoots them at about 35%. Decent DR%.

Alvaro Folgueiras 6'9" SO Robert Morris Stretch 4

--Shoots almost 45% on 3's, is a beast on the defensive glass, steals at a high rate, and gets a good number of assists

Mason Falslev 6'3'' SO Utah St

--Shoots over 40% from 3 and gets a ton of steals

Who knows if they are actually UK caliber. Thumbing through player lists and stats is fun knowing that our roster pool is now open to the entirety of college basketball lol.

Obi agbim, ewin from Florida state, lendenborg from UAB, Bruce Thornton. And he will never transfer but condon from Florida would be great
Yeah Condon would be a killer transfer. I’d make good friends with his agent. I’d honestly like to get Clayton Jr, too.

It will be interesting to see who enters the portal, who has don’t contact tags, and who we are mentioned with early.

Noah Williamson Bucknell Center 7"0 250 lbs and shots 32% from 3 and averaging 17 points per game. He has 1-year eligibility remaining and would fit great into Pope's offense if he puts name into the portal.

Another player:

Bennett Stirtz 6'4'' JR PG Drake

-Shoots 38% from 3. Steals at a good rate. Good assist : turnover
Love Stirtz, but I don’t think he will go anywhere unless his coach goes somewhere. His coach brought him with him from a D-2 school.

How much money can any reasonably intelligent guy (upperclassman at that) be expected to pass up because he "loves" his coach? And how much can a coach care about a player if he manipulates him into passing up maybe 100s of thousands of dollars (maybe even a $million in Stirtz case)?

I like:

Obi Agbom - PG Wyoming
Mason Falslev - CG Utah State
Yaxel Lendeborg - PF UAB
Alvaro Folgueiras - PF Robert Morris
Oscar Cluff - C South Dakota State

I don’t really like Jamichael Stillwell as much as some others do. His three point shooting has fallen off to what you would expect for a 56% free throw shooter and he doesn’t bring as much to the table defensively or as a passer as the other PFs I listed above.

Why are we assuming that Drake doesn’t have some big money donors that could match the offers? Mid-major doesn’t mean broke.

Also, his coach might be moving on up as well and it’s likely he follows him wherever he goes and gets paid.

Who says loyalty and making money have to be mutually exclusive? I figure Robinson made some good money coming here to continue playing for Pope.

I agree that if Drake has the NIL money, or if his coach goes to say Indiana (where they presumably have a good NIL budget) then that's a different story. Having a strong relationship with his coach is definitely a big factor, probably the deciding factor, if the $$ is relatively close. I'm just saying it seems unlikely he would pass up 100s of thousands of dollars or that a coach who isn't a completely narcissistic a** would try to convince him to.

Abdi Bashir Jr. 6’7” SO wing from Monmouth

-Shooting 38% on over 330 3’s attempted. For reference, Brea has 182 attempts this season.
-Made 10 3’s in one game against Rutgers.

Good size and pretty darn good 3 point shooting at an absurd volume.

Unless we're talking about a couple if mid major guys that are really, really good, I would rather go after guys that have proven they can play at the power 5 level and don't need the entire season to get acclimated.
The SEC is so damn physical and athletic, we need to match that.

I really like the top two mid-major wise. Would Thornton leave Ohio St? He was recruited by these guys and gets all the shots he wants. NIL-wise, OSU can easily match us I would imagine.
