Yeah, this is a Chicago-centric, big-school board, but when the dust settles, there will be some mid-major schools asserting their position in the top-10 ranks for all classes.
I define mid-major as 6A or lower - with the exception of a few schools like Montini and Naz (this does not apply every year). I include Crete, PR, CG in this category, just as traditional college mid-majors can compete for the BCS bowls IF they are having an OUTSTANDING YEAR with a unique collection of athletes. Until the trend shows those schools as perennial powers class after class, they remain a "mid major." (REVERSE EXAMPLE: JCA is no longer "elite despite class" so based on size, they are a mid major.)
Everyone following along?
In this category this year, if I could build my own title tourney, I'd group the top 15 6A teams, top 10 5A and top 7 in 4A. Every game would be competitive and there could be 10 possible winners, I'd think.
