I know thats like a 4 letter word around here, but I think the young secondary played well. It helped having a healthy d-line. My question is does Mike go back to Jordan Thomas when he is healthy, or will he let the young guys continue to play.

It took Mikey 10 Games to make that change...Let's just hope it takes him that long to switch back...

OU is getting some new found production from not only the three freshmen defensive backs (Norwood, Brown, Barnes) but also from the defensive line, which now has Bledsoe, Mann, Lampkin, Overton and Faamatau really coming on, plus DE Ward and OLB/DE Mark Jackson are playing better.
The improvement in the secondary is, in part, due to the improvement in the defensive line.....and then there's the improvement week to week of LBs Kenneth Murray and Caleb Kelly.
If Romar returns at least by the post season, so much the better.
This team is getting better now and that means Riley and his staff are doing what good coaches do: making their team better each game.
With or without Jordan Thomas, OU should be in good shape. He's the last concern I have of this team.

Dude's got a chance to be ready this Saturday, but wasn't able to move well enough to just be on the sideline last Saturday?
Yeah, that makes perfect sense. Hmmmmmm.... indeed.

Most scary thing I’ve heard this week, even if it is only Kansas, “if he’s ready, we will go with him”. I take that as if Thomas has a good game against the Jayhawks he will start against West Virginia. Not good. And some have given Mike credit for making a change while it was because Thomas wasn’t available. Should of known better. Or could this be just Riley saving face for Thomas?

I thought of the face-saving 'Ploy', too, Okla...Much ado about NOTHING! The Special Letter in my Inbox about why he wasn't on the sideline, and Riley's response...'Didn't want to get him roughed up'. He is a FOOTBALL PLAYER, for Heaven's Sake...Or SUPPOSED to be! Methinks the Coach doth protest too much...

Yeah caught that comment about the number of people on the sidelines too. Ah, what? Funny. Maybe coach thought someone would step on Thomas’ toe or something. LOL

Ive never thought Jordan Thomas lacked ability, he seemed to lack mental toughness...he can still be the man if he ever decides to be the man...

plus he doesnt seem to take his discipline serious...he balled his soph year and then seemed to get lazy if you ask me...

Jordan was injured. He'll start again as soon as he's able.

He lacks in confidence, not ability. Three and a half years of Mike Stoops 12 yards cushions or "left on an island" scheme will do that to ya. I for one, sympathize with the young man.

An NFL coach may turn him into a star. I hope so.

I think he is done at OU. We won't see him on the sidelines or on the field again. Mike Stoops isn't the issue with Thomas. He is his own issue.

From what any NFL scout will see on Thomas is his film of the last couple of years and that isn't going to garner any confidence in Thomas. He either isn't a talent or he has been dogging it the last two years. Either way any good team will avoid him as there are to many kids out there that have shown the ability and attitude.

Frankly, the thought of Thomas being on the field in a critical play scares me.
He has regressed unlike any player I have seen at OU.
He truly "is his own issue".

Is Mike blind? My hell the kid is not good. Probably Mike's fault, he doesn't know a good player from a bad player.

As a proud Sooner fan & like many on this board, I'm very conflicted regarding the Big 12 Championship and the potential for our Sooners to make the playoffs. I mean what fan does not wish for their team to move forward, be successful etc? And what team generally can do this w/ a Mike Stoop as the DC? We as fans either have it wrong about him or OU has one of the most complicated situations ever regarding Coaching. I've already went on the record as stating I want the team to play whoever the schedule dictates including the playoffs and win while doing so. But on the other hand, I've also stated w/ Mike Stoops as the DC, OU will never win a National Title. It is going to be extremely difficult for Riley to dismiss Mike Stoops if OU wins the Big 12 & makes the playoffs. Extremely difficult. I'd love to see him gone, but I don't see it happening at this point.

Baker has done so many incredible things as a walk on player. I think he has a few things left in the tank. One of which might be the saving Mike Stoops million dollar a year job.

Personally I think its going to take quite a few bad losses for Mike to be gone. As long as OU is winning, winning Conference Titles and in the mix for a playoff spot I don't expect to see any changes. At this point I just hope the offense can overcome the defense if they are having a bad game. Had the Oklahoma State game, Baylor and Kansas State games gone the other way I still doubt Mike would have been let go at seasons end.

When Baker is gone next year, it is unlikely we can outscore everyone on our schedule. I certainly hope I'm wrong.
If I am right, we'll see some of those bad losses (think ISU 2017 X 3 or 4). Hate to go through that unnecessarily.
