The chants of our student body directed at Kopp were uncalled for, in my opinion. If you want to joke around, joke around. I use foul language rather liberally. However, I would never direct it at an opposing player in a chant. Especially a player that gave our school THREE YEARS OF HIS LIFE. Their chants made us seem like douche bags. Again, my opinion.

Sounded like “F*** you Miller” on TV. I don’t love it either, booing him when he has the ball or taunting him when he misses shots is standard student section behavior but that seemed a little too much even if he left us behind. And I love a good hostile student section.

Soft take. Sorry, if even 1 of those chants caused him to go 1/6 in the game or whatever it was worth it. Students have nothing to apologize for. Would I prefer something more clever? Yes. But we need our student section to be pitbulls to set the tone and they are coming thru in spades. The days of Northwestern being soft in any respect should be over.

Part of the problem is that the student fans have no blueprint. They don't know what to do. We've been bad for so long, and they know they are supposed to be loud and proud. Even the crowd closeups make them look like awkward dorks. Not an excuse, but they just don't know.

The student section was an embarrassment in their DUI chants at Purdue and the FU chants against Kopp. Other than that they were great. It is a shame they could not come up with something clever. They have really been a huge asset at the games.

Nah. F-bomb chants naming a specific opposing player have no place in college sports. Maybe only against the NIL guys who are paid as much as pros…but still. Bball games are small enough environment where players can see and hear exactly who’s heckling them unlike in football.

I even felt a little bad chanting “8th grade science” at that Illini kid back in the 90s when I was a student!

I didn't like the chant, but then I didn't join in either. As I told the very offended IU alums sitting behind us talking trash all night, Miller left the program - which nobody really cared about. We root for Nance and Young.

But Miller also publicly trashed the program more than once as he left. And a bunch of those students were there when he did it, so they're still pissed at him. And I don't blame them.

And it clearly got to him. I couldn't believe he didn't foul out they way he kept clinging and clutching at Chase and Chase's shirt in the second half, and ramming into players while out of control. He was a mess.

FU Miller is unseemly and unclever. Ride him hard (I have zero “thanks for your years” warm and fuzzies for him at all), but that’s weak sh*t. “We want Miller” while he’s benched is funny and good. Even some chant acknowledging how we are way better without him would sting.

I love love love what students have brought this season & hope it’s the start of something new in terms of our culture. Get as many of them in the damn building as possible. Not going to ask them to be angelic choir boys and girls, or to act like they’ve been there before, because they literally have not (not storming was good though. It’s just #18 IU). But F-U chants shouldnt happen. Do better. We know you can!

Kopp’s a stiff and cry baby. It’s NU that gave him a free education for 3 years and he did very little to earn it. Another one CC couldn’t wait to get out of town. When you pack the house with students chants are gonna happen. Grow a set.

Meh. I think our chants are the exact opposite of “weak sh*t.” Our rabid student section is making a huge difference, pearl clutchers be damned. We don’t win the last 2 games without them. We’ve somehow turned into the Big Ten version of the Raider’s Black Hole. I’m not going to criticize their *highly effective* methods, even tho they may be a notch distasteful from time to time.

If you don’t like it, maybe start a chant that’s more clever (and louder) than our “bloodthirsty” (TM-West Lot Pirates) students. If not, sit back and enjoy the W. Just win, baby!
