After a win against North Dakota, our neighbors to the north have endured a 5 game losing streak. Is Baldwin on the Hot Seat this year?

PBJ got hurt in the middle of their 4th game and has missed the last two, so that's played a big part in the losing streak. Wouldn't surprise me if he is on the hot seat in his 5th year there if he can't pull it together this season.

In the last game against Alcorn State, Jordan Lathon played 35 minutes and went 1-9 and 0-5 from 3.

I don't think he would have been the savior for us a few years ago...

He is, right now, 48-75 at UWM

I don't know how his seat does not explode if he has a bad season

Speaking of coaches, the new guy (TJ Otzelberger) at Iowa State inherited a team that lost 21 straight to close out last season...

Otzelberger hits the transfer portal, brings in Izaiah Brockington from Penn State, Gabe Kalscheur from Minnesota, Aljaz Kunc from Washington State, Tristan Enaruna from Kansas, Caleb Grill from UNLV and a freshman point guard, His top 6 players werent at Iowa State last year.

They are unbeaten and ranked in the Top 25 after thrashing Memphis.

Was a great coach at South Dakota State before UNLV. Gets it done.

If PBsr. gets fired from mil. And pbjr. isn't ready for the pros yet...is there any chance that he enters the transfer portal and heads to nu next season?? Just dreaming....

His shooting percentage was good as a freshman, then his shooting took a nosedive his sophomore season and it shook his confidence. He needs a shooting coach.

His strength is in his passing and athleticism. He'll go get boards and he'll play tough defense. On a team with weapons, he'll be good at running the offense and distributing the ball. Alas, I believe PBJ has missed some games, and I don't know what other weapons they have. Milwaukee wasn't exactly good before PBJ.

Sounds like if this continues he might need another year to prove himself and if his father gets forced out, might be looking for new home

I wonder what that best NU home would be......

His kid will be a gazillionarrie soon
Not so sure about that. Some think the kid was massively over-hyped and a bit soft. Time will tell how good the kid really is against the big boys. 5 stars doesn’t mean diddly anymore, now he’s got to prove it on the court.

Just saw them, admittedly not paying a ton of attention, lose their home opener against Youngstown State. With PBJ they can fight, not necessarily win, with the likes of Cleveland State, Wright State, Oakland or even Northern Kentucky. Without him they don’t stand a chance: they are mediocre, even for HL standards.

And Lathon continues to not be good at basketball.

Kid made a terrible decision. Can’t believe his dad didn’t advise him to attend NU. Would have been a great story leading the Cats to the tourney.

I agree. So many NU reasons to go to NU - the degree, the post-graduation/post-NBA opportunities, the NU network, the media coverage, blah blah blah.

Besides, i’m not really sure what 1 year of playing for your dad in a weak conference really accomplishes - for him in terms of development and for his dad. 1 year of improved performance certainly won’t solidify Sr’s status if it is tenuous. And Jr really won’t develop much playing against significantly inferior competition, and won’t be much fun without talent around him. Lose lose all around with no real benefit long term other than the joy of being directly coached by dad in games.

This one really confused me as it played out…. I get the reasons why one might not want Duke, but to choose dad and UWM?!?

Because it's his Dad. The kid gets to play his one year in college for his Father. He's not going to get a degree, he'll probably get drafted and be set for life financially, and he plays for Pops for a year. I completely get it.

I get that, and i don’t fault him for HIS choice. And if all things were equal, it would be great to play for dad. The difference here is 1 year of development - which is significant. If i were in Sr’s position, i would be hard pressed to tell my son to pass up the collegiate experience to play for me for 1 year.

Just look at the type of experience and games that his peers are playing in. - That kid from Gonzaga and the Seattle kid who went to Duke. They are learning how to play tough in tough games. Seems like Jr. is just playing another year of teenage basketball - albeit stronger competition than in HS. Still a world of difference than practicing and playing against BIG and top 25 college programs, and some of the best competition possible…

PBJ is back from injury. strong first half... 19 pts on 7-8 shooting. Milwaukee down 37-36 at half.
