Ugh....we traditionally try and escape Minnesota winters a couple times per year to warmer locales. Now, let me preface, I wasn't expecting tropical weather, but this is the best you can do? It was like 25 degrees for my run this morning.

My wife and I got in yesterday. Saturday will be her first ever game in Cameron --- well, technically last night's women's game against FSU was (we only peered in and stayed for about 30 minutes or so of actual time).

Anyway, I haven't been here for 10 years, either. We're going to have more time today and will do a full walking tour of the campus, the Duke museum, may even swing over to Chapel Hill to see a buddy going to grad school there.

Any other suggestions? We hung out for a bit last night by Brightleaf Square and I'm guessing will go back....ate at Satisfaction last night and the wings and pizza were still as good as I remember. We're staying at the Washington Duke. We're only here until Sunday night so don't have loads of time, but any other restaurants we should try? Things have changed a lot since I was last here.

DJ, I'm in Charlotte & it is absolutely freezing. Waiting for tixx to come thru for tomm, hope it works out.

Please tell me you hit Hall of Champions! I spend hours in there for every visit.

At the Washington Duke, have breakfast in the back room by the golf course. Amazing food & spectacular view. Hit WD hotel bar tonight as former players usually show up the night before a big game. Get a basketball & head to Cameron this afternoon to get some jumpers in. Did that two years ago with my brother & we were like two kids on X-mas morning.

We hit it up today, Laettner. My wife was able to get a picture with Nolan....probably her favorite player of all-time. And we took your advice and shot hoops in Cameron....although it was with a volleyball.

Lots of former players already coming in and the campus is crazy in anticipation of tomorrow's game. The book store was nuts. Tyus is already here and we saw Danny Ferry walking around Cameron too.

I'll think we'll take your advice and hang by the hotel tonight for a few cocktails.

Tyler's Taproom has good food and a nice selection of beer, if you drink. It is in that same area. Have a safe trip back when you guys depart.

I love the Hall of Champions. I love reliving the moment and explaining to my son about those games. Funny thing is I have some of them recorded on VHS tapes back home.

Agree with the weather, been here since Wednesday and coming from Chicago it sucks not to be in a warmer climate. I actually walked into Cameron and saw Tyus or acting that was pretty cool. Also randomly walked into Grayson and Marshall walking into practice and got a picture with them too. So far a great start to the weekend.

Can anyone just walk into Cameron if it isn't game day or how does that work?
I'm not sure about right now but I was in Durham this past summer for a Durham Bulls game and went over to Cameron and honestly just walked in like I owned the place LOL....No guards or anything to be seen anywhere. They were actually having a camp there that day though so that may have been how we walked in so easily.

The woman working in the hall of fame area came up to us and I told my buddy "damn she is going to run us out of here"....But she asked if it was our first time there and we said yes and she was like "well we need to get you into one of our Cameron tours that starts in about 15 minutes"....it was totally awesome too

I tried to as well, Gator...but it's not working. We're having dinner now at Tobacco Road in Durham and then heading back to Washington Duke.

Any good? I'm at angus barn for dinner then I think I'm gonna catch a movie and head over to Washington for a drink and see if any former players are there.

Can I post pics from my phone using the mobile site? Can't figure that out.
Download photobucket and from there upload your pics. Once pic is uploaded, click on info button. It opens and you click the direct link. Paste that direct link into the tab that opens when you click the photo button on this message board and click insert. That's it!!'

Yes, you can pretty much walk in there anytime you want except close to game time and during practices. I can remember my first time at Cameron. My parents and I were checking it out prior to the ACC tourney years ago and we were only ones in the gym. I thought I was in heaven just getting to go on the court and shoot ball, then K walks across the court, talk about an amazing first time We went on to win the ACC tourney, which made for an incredible first experience. I have been many times since then and haven't missed and ACC tourney since then, but I'll never forget my first time in Cameron.

Bull City Burger and Brewery- family-friendly, fun atmosphere, in-house brewing, high quality burgers, in old downtown
Monuts Donuts- hip breakfast and brunch place on 9th
The Federal- right across from Brightleaf next to James Joyce (also good), great beer selection; I'm, like, obsessed w/ their pulled pork nachos.
Downtown Durham Farmers' Market- Saturday morning, if you see this in time. It's ridiculously cold, but it's a cool scene, and there are great food trucks there every weekend. I'll be w/in hollerin' distance at the downtown Y for my kindergartener's basketball practice and "game." (Freakin' hilarious and adorable. Imagine a stand-up comic who is a bunch of puppies.)

I'm glad to see The Federal is still going strong. I actually built their outdoor patio back when they first opened. I know it's not much to look at, but they didn't have a lot of money to spend, so we had to keep it simple. Is it still owned by that Irish dude (his name is pronounced "Reece" but has a different spelling, Rhys, maybe)?

Oh, yeah. It's still going strong. Rhys sounds right, but I don't know him personally. The same guy owns the Joyce next door, too, and a friend of mine used to work for him there.
