Minny only favored by 4.5 pts. MI is favored by 5 against IA. That's positive!

Their current starting 5:
  • Carr (G) - Elite all conference type of player. But several teams have been successful containing him. Mostly because the rest of the team kinda sucks. Don't recall which team, but one game he was double teamed every time he touched the ball. Minny lost.
  • Kalscheur - As a FR/SO was solid, one of the best 3 pt shooters in the conference. Good defender. Weirdly, this year, as a JR, is having horrendous shooting percentages. Won't play tonight anyway
  • Mashburn Jr - Latest iteration in the starting 5. Was having a Ty Berry like season until the coach actually had the cojones of starting a FR. As Berry, undersized SG, more athletic but worse shooter. Has potential to go off for 20 in some game by the end of the season. Hopefully not tonight
  • Johnson - Good as a role player. Adapted to B1G probably better than most people expected. But scoring 8 3's against IA was a fluke. He's a role player
  • Robbins - Appeared to adapt to the B1G well. Had monster games. One more addition to the ridiculous amount of good bigs in the league. Until he started sucking like 5 games ago. Hopefuly does not regain confidence tonight
Bench:
  • Gach - Was a starter, replaced in starting 5 by Williams, later by Mashburn. Is talented, can do a bit of everything. One can see him as a solid B1G player who just has not yet adapted to playing faster and against better players. For now, limited. Will probably start tonight. If not, prolly Williams will.
  • Williams/Ihnen/Curry/Omersa - role player, defering to others for the most part

Minny has, IMO, less talent in their roster than us. With the notable caveat they have an elite player.

My BIL says Gopher nation is rooting for Pitino to lose the last 5 games. So the administration is forced to fire him.

Go Cats. Let's get this one. Chances of a 16 game losing streak are starting to become too real.

Gophers 5 point favorites at home-with Kalscheur out and Robbins hobbled, I don't see it. I would say it depends on how many of our threes fall.

You know that Mashburn will go off tonight against us as a result, lol. This will be an ugly game, with Minny being the worst-shooting team in the conference against our worst-defense in the conference. We're the worst offensive rebounding team but Minny is the worst defensive rebounding team. Our second-worst offense against their second-worst defense. Who will suck less? BTN, 8:00, tune in and find out! 🤢🤮

Minny is really tough at home. They've beaten Iowa, OSU, Purdue and Michigan at the Barn, losing only to MD. NU will not be much of a test for them.

Being down two starters makes a difference, though. They were down 40 to IL late in the second half last weekend. They’ve looked bad lately. I think they’ve only won 3 games in 2021?

Let me be the first to say I hope we lose out and force NU into the same choice.

That is three more than we had won in 21
