Quite a few didnt play this week. If it cant be made up will hurt a lot in seeding. Only playing 10 games is a big disadvantage of a lot. WRH already has 2 loses and and will result in at most a 8-2 record going into the playoffs. Clinton who only play 10 games will really be hit if it cant be made up. SWO had a bye this week so we are OK.

feel pretty sure NCHSAA will push the playoff start back a week....starting Nov. 16th instead of Nov 9th....also expect there will be some schools that will not play even this upcoming week..........................

Hope everyone can get their scheduled games in. But of little importance compared to the damage, property, and loss of life. I left Jacksonville in 03 after two hurricanes in 28 days. Hope everyone fares well and start the long recovery. Lots of friends, my sons family in NC and sister in SC still, so far all is well with them.

I doubt they play this week either i can see JK vs Clinton being moved to the last game of the season if the NCHSAA extends the season a week similar to 2016 when the Union game was the last regular season game

I'd be shocked if a lot of schools don't have at least 2 games to make up. Depending on bye week, that would work with pushing back playoffs. Quite possible a couple of schools could miss 3

Story today in the JDN about the damage on area athletic facilities. Looks like most had some damage on gyms. Seems the softball/baseball fields got the worst of it; SWO says only one tree down across a fence at Padgett Field and scattered limbs around. Our scheduled game with Croatan there. Croatans field is OK also. Only problem is TRAVEL. Wouldnt help to move the game to SWO as if we cant get there they cant get here, Dont look good.

Still, no word from the NCHSAA extending the season as most schools in eastern North Carolina, particularly southeastern NC will not be playing for the 2nd week in a row this week. I really can't see how they cant extend the season 1 week if not two!

Been wondering that my self. Our conference has it pretty tough... all schools and surrounding towns have major flooding. I know the Columbus county school system is closed for the remainder of the week which puts us out two games so far with no bye week. Curious to see how’s this all plays out

I saw video online of flooded gyms at Croatan & SW Onslow....and the football field at Lumberton under 2-3 feet of water....agree with some posts higher up that it could be October before some of these teams get back on the field

Pushing it back also impacts the winter sports season which starts practice on Nov. 1. Then that woudl push back spring sports, etc. Hope they find a way to fix things right for the schools affected by the storm. Example of a major issue, the NCHSAA has already booked the date for the state wrestling tournament and the Greensboro Colisieum. Probably take an act of congress to be able to move a scheduled event like that back.

Bladen County Schools will start back to school on Wednesday next week at the earliest. We had 5 or 6 schools that were used as shelters that have to be cleaned up plus a lot of leaking roofs that have to be fixed. I seriously doubt we will play next Friday so that's 3 games for us to make up. Cape Fear River Flooding will be as bad as Matthew, if not worse.

Something else to consider.....

Per the NCHSAA, "teams that miss 5 or more consecutive days of practice must have 3 days of practices upon returning before any competition can be held."

Duplin County is in a very bad situation and I am sure others in SE North Carolina are as well. Roads washed out, homes destroyed, still no electricity or running water in many areas.

This is going to cause a scheduling nightmare but compared to the nightmare that's been going on almost a week it is a much easier fix.

Hope everyone stays safe.

Wallace, NC and River Landing area were hit hard by the flooding. I saw some pictures today that were absolutely astonishing and heart breaking coming out of that area. I can't imagine them being back to school or playing football next week.
