This is the kind of game where he makes several big plays at key times. He won the game for us last year at Ole Miss. Really missed his athleticism tonight. Great win for the cats. Hope you are recovering well, Poy, Lee needs to get back on the court. Not sure why he didn't play tonight.

First and foremost, I hope Poy is recovering and doing well after his surgery.

Second, I can't believe this hasn't been discussed more. We absolutlely missed Poy last night. Several games last year that we won were because Poy would get a rebound, put back, or make a big block from behind. Poy brings a toughness that is hard to replace.

Absolutely yes. Ole Miss was attacking UK with 3 perimeter guys, Moody, Summers, and White. All 3 were red hot, and with all the switching on defense, Ole Miss could almost always end up with one of them being guarded by someone from UK who couldn't really stay with them. Add Poythress to the mix, and that equation is changed. Poythress was more than capable of shutting down one of those guys.

Of all the forwards on UK, Poythress was by far the best able to guard smaller guys. When UK plays teams like Ole Miss, where almost all the offense is created by perimeter players, that's where he'll be missed the most. At least when those perimeter guys are playing out of their minds, which hopefully doesn't happen too many more times.

I miss his tough defense, and he's always good for at least two big plays that get his teammates pumped. I thought he would be missed much more vs. UL although I am excited by the thought of watching him lead the younger guys next year, if that is his plan (I would assume it is).

I said this in another thread last night. I hope Cal and coach Payne are working with Trey. He needs to keep improving.

Wasn't this the first game he wasn't on the bench? Maybe that's why WCS (and others) were a bit discombobulated.

I was thinking the same thing during the game last night and was talking about it with the people sitting around my area. We really missed Poy's defense and rebounding big time last night and it was the first game where not having him was this obvious. Having said that, I also wish him the best in his surgery and recovery. Sure hope to see him back in full swing on the court next season.

Same here. Talked about it during the game how Poy's play would come just at the right moment.
